I'm confused. Is the list in the OP up to date? For example, it doesn't include the GTX 480. Shouldn't that card be somewhere at the top of the list?

What games will I be able to run on a Gigabyte Video Card 512MB. Just incase you need to know i'll have 4GB of DDR3 RAM and
AMD Athlon Dual Core 3.1 Ghz processor.
Thanks in advance.
Can anyone give me an indication of how well this will perform GIGABYTE 5770 1G (HDMI, DX11) PCI-E VIDEO CARD
Other things in the PC will be....
4GB of DDR3 RAM
AMD PHENOM X2 - 555 Dual Core 3.2Ghz AM3 - CPU
Windows 7 premium
Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3 AMD DDR3 Motherboard
Thanks guys :D
This is a great list. I have a 8800 GTS Fatal1ty graphic card by XFX, which was factory overclocked about 15%. The standard 8800 GTS 512 is ranked 33, so mine must be slightly above it - not bad for a 3 year old card.bodug60
DIY ocing can be pushed far beyond the factory clocked ( a gimmick name or higher bin model ) thats just the same card with a boosted presettings. You have to push your card really far usually to equal the next best card.
Ex: gtx 460 1gb to the next card is 5850, but you had to oc it to its near limit 30% or so.
It's missing GF104 entirely. OP needs to put in the GTX 480, 470, 465, 460 and GTS 450GTR2addict
Yep!Agree!
Those are the cards you can get to enjoy DX11/Physx simultaneously.Ati/Amd better should do something to get that Physx thingy off their backs. The hd5750/5770/5800's are great deals after the price cuts.
mine is ati radeon sapphire HD3450 im playing heroes of newerth is it bad or good for the game? plz help im thinking of getting a new VGA but my recnet VGA support up tpo 1 gig hyper memory. derailedpinoy
That card can not only handle HON but many other newer games albeit at a low resolution, but don't expect too much.It all boils down to the resolution you are playing in.If you are just a casual gamer that card would suffice. But if you intend to play newest games at resolutions of 1280x960 or something with highest detalis you need an upgrade.
Hypermemory is a good cost-effective tech, but you better stack up greater amounts of RAM to implement it to full effect. The VGA memory is borrowed from the main memory in this case. And greater memory was NEVER a dealbreaker when it comes to entry-level GPU's as those GPUs do little with all that memory!
Just mention your gaming needs and resolutions you play at and there are a lot of cards that can be suggested.
please add gtx460 SLI to the list. From what I heard it's cheaper and better than a single 5970.

I meant 2x gtx 460 in SLI is better than a single 5970. Correct me if I'm wrong my friend. The 5970 is a single card solution(use of one lane although is two boards together). Sli 460, belongs in the multicard list therefore they wont be listed together.
5970 > 460, by about 10% or more, but it costs way more than its worth.

Problem is that the 460 isn't listed there at all.
Well as far as i know its best to purchase a graphic card that will not only be amongst the best today but will also be good for tommorow....

Here is a full blown review of the 460SLI and how it compares to other cards and dual card setups. As you can see from the performance charts the 460SLI comes out on top for a couple but the 5970 comes out on top on more.Just copied it from overclock forums, the only list that is being constantly updated.

Is the GTX 460 1GB really worth the extra £40 over the GTX 460 768MB version?

Price is too steep to pay for next best imo.

That list makes MUCH more sense the 5970 is still the fastest card on the market the other list had it all screwed up.
How can 4770 be better than 8800 ultra or predecessors 9some)!!!This crap is really crossing it's limit and I am now tempted seeing that 4770 has also beaten 9800gt. I tested both of them and found that 9800 slightly outperforms 4770:evil:
So the HD6800 series finally hit the market! Unlike the Hd4800 or 5800 series, the 6800 series are the upper mid-range segemnt and NOT the high-end segment (which is going to be the Hd6900 series) .
From the reviews(bit-tech and legit) it is clear that the 6870 and 6850 are Amd/ATi's answer to Nvidia's Gtx 460 1gb and 768mb variants.
Truth be told there's very little to choose between the Ati and Nvidia offerings.

My vote is for the 6870. It looks very promising, IMO.
Benchmarks on this site for the 6870 and 6850 are actually a lot lower than on the majority of sites out there. Some sites show almost a 20% increase from a base clocked 460 1gb while most show the 6870 close to the 470 trading blows back and forth with the 470 a little ahead of the 6870. Would like to see how things go once the new AMD cards get better drivers. Or the 460 getting a driver overhaul.
1) 8800GT 256 Mb and HD3850 256 Mb should be considered below X1950XTX 512 Mb. Even 8800GTS 320 Mb was never that good against X1950XTX 512 Mb in most games. I had a HD3850 256 Mb and a NX1950XT 512 Mb, and honestly the X1950XT was faster..
2) Also in this list the GTX280 is superior to 9800GX2 - but this is only due minimal frame rates i take, right? Because on average and maximum frame rates the 9800GX2 is a fast as GTX285. I have seen lots of benchmarks where SLI 8800GT are equal or better to GTX280, and 9800GX2 is obviously above SLI 8800GT, because 9800GX2 are two 8800GTS 512 cards put in one. On average the 9800GX2 is faster than GTX280 in most cases.
I bought my 6870 the day it came out, it was outdated before I got it out of the box. It's how technology works, even with consoles you buy one and the better version comes out in a few months that brings noise down or has wifi built in. Think of it this way, better than spending 40 grand on a car that drives off the lot worth 10 grand ;)I'm 18th, kinda annoyed that a month after i got my GTX460 the 500 series came out.
