No, I've never considered it "music" really all rappers do these days are make words rhym and they make little to no sense.
It really depends. Some rap has melodies and thought-out text, which I consider to be music (it is music, tbh) but if someone is rapping with just a constant monotonous beat in the background, I don't consider it to be music.
Yes, rap is music. Even if you don't like it, it is still music, it would just be music that you don't like.
As of now there are 12 people who don't know what they're talking about. Rap is indeed music. If you argue that rap is not music because all it has is a beat, then you must also dismiss all other forms of unpitched percussion music, because they too use only rhythm and are in most cases quite repetitive. Organized rhythm is a fundamental characteristic of purposefully organized sound (some would argue it is the most basic and crucial characteristic in fact), and any purposefully organized sound is definitely music.
There is no room for opinion here. If you vote "No," you are casting a vote for ignorance. And I hate rap music.
I agree. Just to make this a little more interesting, would you consider a rapper a musician, because he only raps while the beats you are talking about are usually created by somebody else? I see rap as music by the way, just not my favorite genre. As of now there are 12 people who don't know what they're talking about. Rap is indeed music. Yes, because a rapper conforms to a metrical pulse as he or she raps, and inflects his or her voice in an artificial (and therefore deliberate) manner to do so. It's still musical delivery - it's just more difficult to recognize. Most rap is accompanied by a steady beat produced in some other manner, though, and in those cases there is no fuzzy line.
No, I'd consider it poetry.

The words are poetry, but the delivery is not. If rap is "poetry," then all vocal styIes are "poetry." It's not how the sound is produced that makes it musical or not. It's the rhythmic aspect of the delivery that makes rap musical.
I don't consider rap music, I know it's music. If someone were to ask me this in person I'd take it as a personal assault on my intelligence.
Anyone that answers no to this question ... probably isn't too intelligent. because they're letting personal biasis make their deceisions for them..Just because you may not enjoy or choose to listen to a particular type of music.. doesn't change the fact that's what it is.
Um ofcourse is it. It developes a melody, and rythm composition of sound.People who normally say its not music are either more haters, or dont know what they are talking about.
It doesn't matter what they're saying in the songs, it's still music. If a song with no words is considered music then a song with bad rhymes is considered music too.No, I've never considered it "music" really all rappers do these days are make words rhym and they make little to no sense.

Well, I certainly can't argue with that. :Pso rappers back in the day were better? Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer were better than Lil Wayne and 50 Cent? How is this? No, I've never considered it "music" really all rappers do these days are make words rhym and they make little to no sense.
