YES of course it is music, anyone who seriously thinks otherwise because it is not their preferred genre is one sad individual.

Music comes in all variety of sounds.

Even if you bang pots but has a certain rhythm and sound I will consider it to be music.

So yes I consider Rap to be music.

Not really. usually people sing with music in the background. Rap is talking, there is no notes involved or anything, so its not singing and its not music. The music playing in the background is music, but the rap isn't. STAR_Admiral

It's music, but it's not music one can really dance to. It's not a genre I can enjoy. The only hip-hop/rap that I actually like is by Nujabes because it's not about gangster-related subject matter and the beats sound very soothing.
