The Best E3 2021 Trailers

E3 2021 naturally brings with it a ton of new game trailers. The year's show and those surrounding it proved to be exciting platforms to see some awesome trailers for the biggest upcoming games. Below we've compiled some of the season's biggest trailer highlights for your viewing pleasure. Elden Ring (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC)

Summer Games Fest ended with a bang, revealing to the world the premiere gameplay trailer of From Software's long-anticipated Elden Ring. Like previous reveals from the acclaimed developer, this one offered an intense look at the daunting new challenges that await players when the game finally arrives in January 2022. And yes, you read that right: Elden Ring has a release date.

Death Stranding: Director's Cut (PS5)

In usual fashion, Hideo Kojima appeared as a special guest on Keighley's Summer Games Fest stream to surprise folks with a trailer announcing Death Stranding: Director's Cut. While the trailer offered no indication of what exactly this new PS5 version will offer, it was, at least, a highly entertaining callback to Kojima's previous work on Metal Gear Solid.

Far Cry 6 (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Stadia, Luna)

Leave it to Giancarlo Esposito to always provide a riveting performance anytime he appears on screen. It was no different in this uncomfortably tense Far Cry 6 trailer shown during the Ubisoft Forward 2021 stream.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope (Switch)

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is getting a sequel in the form of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, and the debut trailer for the game reminded us again how shocking it is that this crossover works so well.

Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora (TBA)

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was a pleasant surprise to see at the end of the Ubisoft Forward 2021 stream. Set in the world of James Cameron's massively popular film franchise, the upcoming game seems like one of the most ambitious movie game adaptions that Ubisoft is making yet.

Trek To Yomi (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC)

If you're into classic samurai cinema, then Trek to Yomi may pique your curiosity. This upcoming 2.5D side-scrolling action game has an aesthetic that's evocative of the film genre's finest.

Halo Infinite (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)

The centerpiece of Microsoft's Xbox and Bethesda Showcase at E3 was, of course, Halo Infinite. Developer 343 Industries focused on multiplayer with its latest trailers, which shows some of the game's new mechanics and fast-paced combat in action.

Starfield (PC, Xbox Series X|S)

Though it wasn't much more informative than the last teaser trailer we got for Starfield, Bethesda provided another look at its upcoming space RPG. The trailer reaffirms the aesthetic of the game, if nothing else.

Forza Horizon 5 (PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One)

As rumors suggested, Forza Horizon 5 is set in Mexico, and the storied racing franchise continues to turn out some of the best, most beautiful settings on the market. Check out the incredible look of Forza Horizon 5 in the trailer above.

Battlefield 2042 (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5)

We got a cinematic reveal of Battlefield 2042 just ahead of E3 2021, but it was at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase that developer DICE and Electronic Arts actually showed the 128-player battles in action. The trailer above includes a bunch of new gameplay elements, including the Plus system for changing weapon attachments and tornadoes that can ravage players and vehicles.

Replaced (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC)

Side-scrolling cyberpunk title Replaced was one of the surprises of the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase. In it, you play an artificial intelligence that finds itself in a human body--and, apparently, hunted.l

Somerville (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC)

If Somerville gives you similar vibes to Limbo and Inside from developer Playdead, that's because it's being made by some of the same people as those two games. The new trailer sticks close to a family before things escalate pretty significantly and pretty quickly.

A Plague Tale: Requiem (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC)

In 2019, A Plague Tale: Innocence turned out to be a breakout hit, combining a quality story with stealth gameplay and some horrific rat mechanics. It looks like A Plague Tale: Requiem is going to bring back a lot of what made Innocence great, with even more gross rat physics in play.

The Outer Worlds 2 (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC)

We didn't get a lot of details about The Outer Wilds 2--or any, really--but the trailer channels the humor that made the first game in Obsidian's new franchise a lot of fun. The trailer above is also a pretty great sendup of E3 trailers in general, so it's worth checking out.

Redfall (Xbox Series X|S, PC)

The next game from Arkane Studios also got announced at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase. Redfall, coming from the developers of Dishonored and Prey, pits you against vampires in a multiplayer shooter.

Guardians of the Galaxy (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, PC)

Eidos Montreal's Guardians of the Galaxy game is shaping up to be the next big superhero game. The first trailer offered an entertaining glimpse at the rogueish team as they tackle all sorts of space heists and hijinks.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 (Switch)

We've eagerly awaited new details about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 since it was first announced at E3 2019. Fortunately, Nintendo offered a new trailer during its E3 Direct Presentation this year. While it wasn't much, the sliver of details it did give us was more than enough to get us that much more excited about the upcoming sequel.
