If it weren't my dvd player, I would take my PS2 out back and shoot it. It is a great system, but developers are getting on my last nerve by making Wii/PS2 versions of games. The PS2 graphics are unfairly holding the Wii back.

I was reading IGN's article on on this MX game and they said all of this promising stuff about the game. Then, they got to the visuals which are average.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/834/834596p1.html

These WiiS2 games are getting out of hand. I also heard Atari's doing Alone In The Dark for Wii and PS2. My question is WHY??? Developers are trying to pimp the Wii's success on the short term with these crappy PS2 ports when they could, and should, reap long term profits by doing Wii exclusives. Why don't they see this???

If you're talking about Umbrella Chronicles, I'm ecstatic.

Are me and my friends the only people on the planet that feel like just because you "could" buy a dvd player for $20-30 you shouldn't have to if your console supports it?

I also don't like adding another remote to the small army of remotes that I already have. I think it would be great if I could retire my PS2 and just have my TV, cable box, and Wii. My hopes were high about the chance to do that, but Nintendo dropped the DVD playback at the last minute. Well, I can accept my Wii being the "system on the side" if Nintendo can. Because unlike everyone else on these forums, I own 1 DVD player, and that's my PS2.

MP3- gave every planet their own character

TP- gave Link's world a Tolkien-esque feel that is awesome

But, Excite Truck is customizable- that wins IMO

So I can get three games because it's my birthday soon and I have some saved up money. Should I get Zack and Wiki, Super Mario Galaxy, and Medal of Honor? What 3 games do you guys think I should buy? *don't tell me to go to the recommendation thead; it's way too outdated.

Thanks!

theweakbear

Buy them and give them to me I'll show you that they're worth it LOL

This thread is tremendous!!! I completely agree with and feel all of you.

The problem is that for the last two gaming generations Sony and MS have convinced most of the video game fans around the globe to be "graphics lovers." Developers cater to that. If you pay close attention, you'll see that the only real thing that has changed from PS1 to PS2 to PS3 is the graphics, and that holds true for XBOX and XBOX 360. Fans pay big time dollars for the ability to look at the same games with better looks.

Now, that is not a bad thing. It makes for great games when done properly. But,I believe that graphics should not be the only advancement from generation to generation. You cannot look at any Nintendo system and see glaring similarities. The Big N always grows in graphical capacity, control interface, software medium (i.e. discs or cartridges), and hardware specs. (FYI- I haven't always been a fanboy. I divorced Nintendo for two generations because of software issues but it's a fact that their hardware advancements have always be true advances IMO)

Lastly before I get back to work, Am I the only one tired of new expensive systems being released with great looking, but crappy playing, games?

It has happened twice for Sony if anyone's counting. It has happened once for MS too. I believe that there is no excuse for a game to look as beautiful as some of the early 360 and PS3 (and early PS2 compared to PS1) games looked yet not provide a fun experience. I won't accept it. As I've said before, "games are meant to be played not looked at."

I don't know. I know it's going to win award(s) for something Puzzles, Controls, or Innovation. Puzzles gets my vote because they really made me scratch my head.

Zack and Wiki is fantastic, and is not childish at all. It is also a tremendous challenge. Some (maybe even most) of the stages will take you numerous tries to figure out.Number_1_Gamer

I feel the same way. I described it to my brother as a real "MacGyver" video game because you are given all of the stuff on the level and have to use it ALL to get Barbaros' treasure.
