I actually own a 360. I originally bought it so I wouldn't have to build a super gaming rig. That didn't turn out the case now though, with all the great stuff that'll be on the PC, like Crysis, and the fact that games on both platforms will most likely look potentially better on the PC version. I still keep my 360 for stuff that'll be exclusive or console only to it that I like such as Ace Combat 6 (I'm a big Ace Combat fan and I was shocked to see it go to 360) and Mass Effect. When I built my rig, I switch all my reserved games at Gamestop to their PC versions if they had one instead of the 360 build. However, I'm going to be careful about multiplatorm games, so I don't get screwed because the PC version was rushed. But the 360 shares so many same processes of PCs and DX10 graphics cards (Xenos being a unified shader GPU and all), so I don't expect bad results.mobius1aic

Since it sounds like you cannot buy a computer now, I would look up your computer model on the manufacters website. Usually you can find support and drivers for your model, and the community forums have a wealth of information that people with the same model can share. It takes some time but its well worth it.

Particularly you need to know what your PSU (power supply unit) is rated at (in watts) and what type of video card slot you have, AGP, PCI or PCI-e. That will determine what cards you can get and how much power you have to deal with. More than likely it will tell you at the manufacters website. Then just order it from newegg.com or something.

Another thing you should do is maintainence by using the system utilities (defrag, disk clean, etc) and updating windows if you havnet recently. I use a program called System Mechanic that is very good at cleaning up including registry and things that would take you forever to do manually. (I think they have a 30 day full trial which will serve your purposes)

So, first, clean that rig up, get those updates and drivers and research! Don't spend too much on that machine because it is already old but you might just get enough improvement to make a difference to you for now. (Not saying that it will play games beyond your capability, however.)

I have all faith in you that you can do this.

bingo....and he even typed everything nice and neat and didnt use a bunch of annoying alternate spellings and stupid computer/text slang ahemm....god bless...... good luck..but its not worth fixing up that pc......the psu is likely anemic weak and you would need at least another 256mb of ram..personally i think it would be more trouble and money than its worth......

i, too, would rather see them stick with an older theme (the korean war never gets any games, (dogfights between f-86 sabres and old migs, challenging and 'pretty' terrain)...aint it time for maybe a highly polished cinematic dark Vietnam single player game(m16's jamming, option to shoot anybody with consequences,'interaction' w/ civilians, jeeps and land armor getting stuck and breaking down, disease, nasty brothels and drug dens, im serious...).....

Its not the setting really though that can make a great game or fps, specifically in this generation of gaming, its new ideas and more fleshed out environments, interactions, and cliche but most important-"feel"....the fps has to take you to a level of immersion and control unheard of 5 years ago...

i show my dad (50 years old) certain things from various games i play and he goes holy poo..with the upcoming dx10 environment and capabilites i want something to happen that hasnt happened for awhile  when i boot up a fps.. i wanna go holy poo......and you know what? for all the fancy lighting, shading  and such...its gonna be a game with a completely different or evolved way of playing the game thats gonna make people want to play and support the game...it happened when half-life, half-life 2, oblivion, etc. came out....a new twist or more fleshed out interaction that suck you in to the world....

Rainbow Six Vegas is a system hog for sure, but well worth it. Sephiroth__666

r6 Vegas should run a lot better considering its not that great looking(just like the horrible looking Ghost Recon AW), but i think it runs lousy because its a lazy port from the x360 version. the game is just plain unrefined.

Wanna test your comp? Run a damn benchmark.  Do you really need to post a thread asking such a question?  Then cry for help when nobody tells you the OBVIOUS games out there?  Go find a game and PLAY it......play it for the sake of enjoying the game.......
