[QUOTE="Cubs360"]Thats just weird, Either do all cars with damage or none at all. Half Ass!ZIMdoom

If they did none with damage, people like you (and the others here) would cry about it. But as the article clearly states, some car makers wouldn't allow their cars to be damaged in the game. Most of the cars will be damageable.

For all any of us know, the car damage is set up in such a way that it is minimal, or only a graphical feature. Or, perhaps the non-damage cars can only race against other non-damage cars, like a new class.

Who knows. This is just another excuse for the Sony haters to cry about something.

kaz used the same excuse with the GT4 only to have Forza include damage in EVERY car from EVERY maker... meaning kaz is full of b.s...

actually, i'm laughing...not crying...

Forza 2 ALREADY has GT5 trumped.. now that's just sad....:(

Thats completely stupid

Poly. Pays alot to get the cars into the game, they should have full right to damage their cars, it is therefore a car..

BiOZiGzAg

i think kaz isn't being truthful...

if a porsche can be damaged in Forza and not in GT games, there's the proof...

Yes...GT games have always had a lot of cars.. most of which are slight modifications on the same model.. like the 30+ Nissan Skylines normally found in GT games... which is really pointless if you have paint, customizing, and upgrade features like Forza...

quantity does NOT trump quality.. never has...

I agree. Instead of having 30 of the same car to pad the numbers for GT,Forza gives the ability to have thousands of versions of the same car with paint jobs and different choices in parts, engines, wheels, and so on.

Riiiiight. Thats why GT is just so successful and popular, because of those 30 slightly different Skylines...

it was so successful and popular:

1. because it was the only driving sim on console for YEARS.

2. it was on a console that had "100 million users"...

is popularity now a sign of quality? if so, Halo 3 is one of the best games on the planet... :D

..gotta get to work..i'll check in later....

FORZA FTW!!!

If you read the whole thing you will understand that GT 5 will have A LOT of cars (the most a racing game has had actually (for consoles if not anywhere). It would take too long to do every car. Not to mention the detail and amount of car on screen and the smooth framerate. Don't forget about hte other features.

This is more than enough.

While I sit here enjoying and strolling through Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Spanish game site MeriStation has recently conducted an interview with Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi. Kaz reiterates certain things he's mentioned before and states some new tidbits. First, Kaz makes it a point to mention that Prologue is not an indication of the final product and that it's simply to test the reaction of the hardcore Gran Turismo fans, and to perfect the online network.

He also states that, contrary to initial belief that the cars use some of Gran Turismo 4's architecture, they don't. The cars in Gran Turismo 5 are completely modeled from scratch - nothing has been recycled. Furthermore, they've modeled car interiors with faithful precision, including the texture of the steering wheel, to lining on the upholstery - and after playing GT5: Prologue, we can attest to this. As mentioned before, it'll take one man alone six months to model a car, and one man alone one year to model a track. Thankfully, there are 30 people working simultaneously on track detail, in addition to 90 others doing various other programming and modeling tasks.

When asked if and why GT5 is the best driving sim, Kaz states it's because the game has soul, which translates to realism. Everything about GT5 is realistically detailed, the sound, the environments, and especially the cars. With that realism in mind, he's stated that Sony has been great at providing the team total freedom, and that they only limitation is a targeted launch date. Ultimately, Kaz states that because he is a perfectionist, Kaz will delay the game if he has to. At the moment, Sony and Polyphony are pinning the game for a Christmas 2008 release.

Now, what about damage? Well, good news, there are a variety of damage models being tested internally at Polyphony Digital. The challenge is choosing one that isn't hyper-realistic to the point where a single, tiny error destroys your car and throws you out of a race when you've completed 90% of it. Additionally, because Gran Turismo 5 is dealing with hundreds of cars, covering virtually every manufacturer, some car brands still don't want to see their cars getting damaged, while others don't mind. And so the issue is out of Polyphony's hands, forcing them to prevent certain cars from being damaged. So while most should be damageable, there will be some that won't be.

Moreover, Gran Turismo Portable is still in the works, and it will arrive no longer as a game based on Gran Turismo 4, but a game to compliment Gran Turismo 5. Kaz states he will release the PSP's GT shortly after the release of GT5, so early 2009 looks like the time frame -- a one year wait, not bad. Oh, and get this, after they've released GT5, they're still going to spend another year on tweaking online to make sure it's as stable as possible for the users. You'd expect the guys to take a vacation, right? Well, in the 15 years of development behind the Gran Turismo series, there has never been one. But don't feel too bad, Kaz and the team are well rewarded...Kaz has two Ford GTs, a Porsche 911 GT3, a Nismo 350Z Spec-R (modded), Spoon S2000 (modded), and a host of others. The entire Polyphony parking lot is well decorate with beautiful vehicles.

Look for our hands-on coverage of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue to pop up soon

....looks like Forza 2 is already ahead of GT5 and GT5 is still a year away...

not looking good....

so much for the "gt5 will have realistic damage" theory...

FORZA 2 FTW... :D

if it's true, xbl must've received a LOT of negative feedback on you from other players....

it's funny tho; first the haters say "xbl has nothing but obnoxious kids who scream into the mic", then they blame xbl for doing something about it....

my take? i say, "good riddance".... i'm glad they are enforcing the guidelines that continues to make xbl the best online gaming service on the 'net....

um your the one thats using physics as the only thing that forza has on the gt seies but im the one spinning it? and yes any one of the GT games (on ps2)is more popular then any of the forza games (xbox or 360)...which is what i ment...but you know keepusing only one thing even as an argueing point but we all know

actually, physics are THE paramount consideration in any simulation....

and no, that's not the only thing Forza has over the GT series, but THE reason why it's proven to be a better simulation..

you lost me on the rest of your post... not sure what you're saying, but i'll give it a try:

the fact you have to use 5 gt games sales to compare to 2 forza game sales to try to make gt look better is really kinda funny, in a sad, pathetic way...

i guess it never occurred to you that the GT games sold so well previously was because it was the ONLY driving sim on consoles for years...

Forza has been crowned the new king... GT now has to take back the crown. If Gt4 is any indication of what Gt5 is going to be like, i'd say forza has nothing to worry about...
