It looks great, I just wish I had played the first one. I bought it on sale not too long ago but could never get into, probably since I didn't feel like doing the portion over that was in the demo.

Both, and both can use quads apparently. For GTA 4, if you don't have a quad, don't buy it. And I don't know why anyone would play games with heavily reduced settings at a non standard resolution.

I don't know why people keep saying that. I have an ATI 4870, Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3ghz, and 4 gigs of ram and I can run the game with all high settings minus shadows at 1680 x 1050 at a steady framerate. However, even if you can run it decently, I would still wait untiil Mafia 2 comes out, at least to see what the rest of the reviews have to say. If you have a good time playng the demo than you'll most probabaly like the full game. Remember that they're different games, though. While both have sandbox elements, Mafia 2 is based around a very story-driven mission structure whilst GTA IV is more about free-roaming. GTA IV is great fun, and I'm sure the full version of Mafia 2 will be as well.

I guess it all depends. I mean, one of my favorite multiplayer games of all time is COD 2, so it's hard to completely stay away from the series. If this game doesn't have good dedicated servers for the pc or a couple modes that disable killstreaks (I strongly detest them) I'm probably going to stay away from it. However, there were some cool things in the latest multiplayer trailer that I saw so it is a bit tempting. I just hope it's not going to be another rehash with improvements on the things I don't want.

[QUOTE="shawnyboy12"]

I had a great time playing it and am anticipating its release. I really hope the story will be good since that was one of the things I was most looking forward to. I do enjoy the smal ldetails that they've aded to the game, it just seems that there are some great oppurtunites that they missed that could have made those smaller things even better.

10 hours of gameplay for a single player story-driven game, and a "cold story", does not sound good at all.F1_2004

I think that's one of the things that deterred me the most when I first learned about it. It kinda annoyed me that the game is only going to take 10 hours to complete, is about 1/3 the size of GTA, and doesn't have a multiplayer component (Which is strange since this game would be great with multiplayer) yet is that expensive. The reviews about the game saying that the story is unsatisfying are starting to make me feel like passing on this one or at least wait until it's on sale.

Hmm.. it's kind of worrying that the story was one of the weakest aspects they had to talk about, considering this is a very story-driven game. That's the only thing I'm really worried about at this point since everything else seems to work really well, especially the cutscenes. I haven't had a good story-driven sandbox game since Red Dead Redemption. I'll wait for some more reviews until I make my final decision or perhaps wait until it goes down in price like others have suggested.

Btw, I made a long post of my walkthough of the demo with pictures if you want to check it out, its in the sig:).

I am looking forward to it. I am awaiting the demo on Tues. By the way, which sites will have the demo available and at what time?

arto1223

From the Mafia 2 forums:

PS3 North America: August 10, 4 - 6 PM PT / August 11, 12 AM – 2 AM GMT

PS3 International: August 11, 12:01 - 6 AM PT / August 11, 8 AM - 2 PM GMT

Xbox 360: August 10, 2 - 4 AM PT / August 10, 10 AM – 12 PM GMT

PC: August 10, 12 AM PT / August 10, 8 AM GMT

Ranich

I know the demo will be released on Steam but I'm not sure what other sites are going to have it.

I can't wait to play it, especially with the demo right around the corner. Not only will it be nice to get a feel for everything before I make my decision, it will also help me decide whether or not my PC can handle it well enough.
