Wow. I knew the game had AAA written all over it, but I didn't expect AAAA at all.

That shot from The Order is strictly a color pass. Literally every single 3D asset, whether it's from a game or a movie, will look like that if you isolate only color (diffuse/albedo) information.

Any high end texturing job calls for cross polarized photography because the last thing you want is specular highlights and shadow information in your color map. If anything, that image shows a mastery of texture work on their part. Flat, uniform, evenly toned color maps is the ultimate goal and they nailed it.

I'm not saying The Order looks better by any means. I'm not arguing that they didn't go overboard with post-processing. All I'm saying is that the image you chose doesn't support the claim. If you were to isolate only the color info from Ryse, it would look the same.

When you strip away specular maps, normal/bump maps, AO and light sources, that's what you get.

Precisely. You could take a pre-composite color pass from Avatar, or The Hobbit and it would look like that, only the textures would be higher resolution.

Local multiplayer, but that's mainly a Nintendo thing. And that's about it.

I'm so glad I invested in a gaming PC for this gen. Consoles have always been my primary choice for gaming, but the advantages they bring have vanished. I find PC gaming to not only be better, but also more convenient.

Did they ever get it all fixed?

I plan on grabbing an X1 soon, it's the only current platform I don't own. I was hoping to pick up MCC as well if it's all in working order.

Bayonetta 2. One of the couple of times that GS got it right when handing out a AAAA.

Runner up is Bloodborne.

This is the best way I can put it, MKX is a button masher, you can't mash buttons in KI and expect any form of success, you have to know exactly what you're doing.

Bullshit on both accounts.

Go try your luck online or even in single player MKX with some button mashing. Let us know how that works out and be sure to post a video. Also, KI isn't some fighter that requires surgical precision either. As far as noob friendly fighters go it's not MK level, but it certainly floats around in that territory.

This thread gets better every time I return.

Same.

Just to be sure I'm understanding this correctly. TC asks why people consider Ground Zeroes to be better on PC. Multiple answers are given explaining in detail that the PC has better graphics and performance. Also, as a byproduct of better draw distance, the gameplay sees some advantages as well. TCs question is answered with overwhelming details, links and examples provided. However, this does not suffice because SDC.

Is that about right?

I'm confused because it seems foolish to create a thread asking a question and then in turn going out of your way to avoid all answers.

Impossible to choose at this point. I'm split on a 3 way tie between Arkham Knight, Zelda U, and MGS5. I know I'll be getting more replay value out of MGSV than the former two due to its breadth of options and free form nature, but I'm equally hyped for all 3 nonetheless.

@extrodinare101 said:

Agreed, objectively speaking they'll both be vastly superior games and actually look next gen unlike MGSV and it's shallow ocean of content.

There is nothing objective about that at all. Quite the opposite actually, you're short selling MGS5 big time.

The Arkham games are excellent, I wouldn't change a thing about them. They're also very simplistic titles mechanically, it's the pacing and encounter design that makes them a home run. Arkham is a shallow ocean, but not to a fault. Just as Mario platformers are shallow games, yet extremely well executed.

Ground Zeroes on the other hand; a limited demo confined to one area, no boss fights, heavily lacking on the abilities and items that will be in The Phantom Pain, completely missing the rpg elements present in TPP, still manages to showcase far more depth and freedom of play than an entire Arkham game.

And that's just the demo.

You're off your rocker with this one.
