Who cares? We're not affected by whether microsoft makes or loses money.

Given they need to make the money back we will eventually be affected. They need to make the money back or they won't see the need to continue. Especially considering Xbox is such a strong contributor to their entertainment division.

Realistically the company will see bigger profits in other areas. Regardless of how rich Microsoft is, they won't keep losing money on Xbox forever. This also shows that despite the Gamecube naysayers the original Xbox was actually the biggest flop of last generation since they still haven't gained the money back for that system.

10 years in and they still haven't made the money back. Two years ago they still hadn't made the money back so I decided to check if things had improved and the brand is finally profitable for them.

If Killzone really is getting more pre-orders then Forza it should be cause for some serious concern. Sony's exclusives can't dream of touching Microsoft numbers (as of now) and it will have a seriously negative impact on MS' marketshare.

Xbox One is a sinking ship and developers will be avoiding this failure like the plague come March.

No, just because it can run the engines doesn't mean it will get the game. If pre-orders of exclusives are this low how bad do you expect sales of multiplats to be?

Platinum is all about flash and pizzazz, they lack any real substance. Hence why their games dont have any kind of mass appeal. Bayonetta was their biggest game and it wouldnt have sold half of what it did without all of the overt sexuality in the game and whole sara palin look she had in the game.

Gargus

Completely disagree Gargus. Bayonetta was by far one of the best action/hack and slash game this generation. DMC and Ninja Gaiden 3 (both versions) don't hold a candle to this game. It was completely true to itself and that is partly why people love it. If this was still the PS2 era Bayonetta would have been considered a big success.

You can make this argument about not selling at Platinum (and other studios TBH) but this publisher stance these days means you will stop seeing games you love because many third parties care only for the bottom line. If signing up with Nintendo meant people would be able to play the games Sega should be publishing you would thank them. You may not like the games but the type of thing Nintendo is doing here is only going to happen less and less as development costs go up again.

I'm not sure which would be better, Platinum being a U exclusive third party, or being brought in full time first party studio.foxhound_fox

The bolded. Not just because they would have a great developer on their hands but because every hater on the planet would call them "sellouts".

Without Nintendo they are just a developer for hire. Everybody likes to ship their games off to them (Metal Gear) but nobody cares to use Platinum's games.

The ONLY downside is losing money on their flops but Nintendo would just get it back. I can completely understand where Kamiya is coming from here. Everybody else doesn't care. What is the point making games on Xbox One or PS4 when nobody wants your own work on there? Platinum's talents are being used without Nintendo and they would allow Platinum all the creative freedom they want. Platinum would be able to make their games the best they could be working around Wii U and all it's strengths (and yes it has some power lovers).

Sony and Microsoft won't see Vanquish 2 anyway because nobody cares. Nintendo should sign up with them while they are free. Microsoft is stuck with Remedy's flops (Alan Wake flopped). They could always use a developer to shorten the gaps between releases. Aside from the fools denying themselves Wii U just because of blindness everybody is a winner here. Platinum should put their franchises to the only company that cares to help them.

They could also dig up some rejected projects as well. Konami doesn't want Bayonetta 2 or Vanquish 2. Konami wants somebody to bow down to their own game. Go for it Nintendo. Even if the games flop its best some got to play them than not play them at all. And you need this kind of developer in your barn.

They haven't gained a thing. They have never made the money back they put into Xbox as a brand. Unlike Nintendo, their console does not stand out. They will block used games when (or if) Xbox One sells enough. They won't just do away with it. This feature is temporary and Microsoft want to control your content. Nintendo have never done this. They paved the way for disc locked content by introducing DLC.

This is the truth and it will hurt. I am presenting this fact before Nintendo haters to give you the harsh reality. MS is the one that doesn't make sense being here. They used Xbox as a scape goat to get into the living room. Gaming has always been an after thought. They don't do enough to stand out from Sony. This is the thing you haters overlook. Nintendo stand out and have completely different games. Take off the hate trousers and open your eyes.

MS have FACTUALLY GAINED NOTHING! So how can these haters sit back and say the hardware business doesn't make sense for Nintendo when they keep raking cash and MS don't? Sure they are rich but do you think they will ignore they haven't made their money back for much longer?

How much longer do you think they can continue to split the base? Sony is in financial crisis but they have proven they have and deserve the gamer's respect. So when Xbox is just a Playstation with Halo, Fable and Forza why is it here? It won't coexist forever. Ask average joe and he will tell you if he wants a Wii U. Then ask him if he wants PS4 or X1. It will be one or the other. He may also own a Wii U because Nintendo's games are different but its extremely unlikely he will own Xbox and Playstation.

FACT = If anyone should GTFO of hardware IT IS MICROSOFT! They haven't made their money back? WTF is the point in them being here? They've literally gained NOTHING!

Yeah but the PS4 can still see you... That's just creepy. :?

JohnF111

Nowhere near the same scale. It isn't just the Kinect camera. The servers they are setting up. The constant daily scanning just to delete a game which they no longer hold any power on. Its not only an invasion of privacy but its completely against our rights. I wouldn't be surprised if this didn't make Europe at Christmas. As I said in another thread, Europe are looking into laws about selling our downloadable goods.

You forum posters crack me up because you continue to pretend corporations are entitled when even governments are questioning them. Its a fact. Only a blind tool defends this system. No company should have this kind of power and they already have more power then they should.

You can't fix what is broken. Xbox One is dead on arrival. No game on Earth will get the masses to put up with that type of anti-consumer practice.

100th used game thread and 100th time I'm laughing at all you plebs crying over having to pay full price like the rest of the grown ups.Ninja-Hippo

If people who buy used (this doesn't include me though there are instances where the game is out of print) didn't have to pay fees in the past why should they start now?
