This news simply adds to the ever expanding workforce in the games industry in Canada. Years ago the Canadian Government offered major tax incentives for games publishers and studios and it has paid off.
It's regrettable that many European and Eastern Block Countries can't do the same and offer real incentives for games companies to start businesses here.
@DemocraticTroll I have PS3 and Xbox 360 and never been a PS+ subscriber. I think its time to join as they offer better value for money than Xbox Live (a huge rip off so I downgraded to Silver).
4 million in sales is pretty good. Looking forward to the next game on the X1, PS4 and PC though Square Enix haven't said Crystal Dynamics will make it ??
I still prefer the early TR classic games though. Levels like St Francis Folly and Palace Midas from Tomb Raider 1 or Venice and Barkhang Monastery from Tomb Raider 2 are some of the best levels ever designed in a video game even by today's standards - great fun.
Looking forward to the sequel.I hope the story brings in multiple locations this time as I enjoyed that part of the original tomb raider games (and Croft Manor)
" Reddy also said she thought the current lack of female creative directors and studio heads was a shame"
No, it is not a shame.
I am thankful that we have such a massive pool of male talent as Creative Directors. If women want these positions, let them prove themselves in the industry that way men have to.
If Reddy wants more women in the games industry then she should visit Universities and encourage female undergraduates to apply. There simply aren't enough girls at Uni taking software development or games related degrees.
Most men want more women in the games industry, but don't blame us for lack of suitable applicants.
At the present time, PS4 is the console of choice. Tech specs are better and it's cheaper. This is bound to change with Microsoft reducing the price of their console for same price. I don't think Sony can afford to match that as Microsoft has a lot more cash as a company.
But for me, PS4 is the clear winner. They also have some brilliant games exclusive to this console. They also listened to customers before E3 about used games.
I am still ordering a PS4 after hearing this news. It is a still a more powerful system - has a better games line up - has no built in Kinect - the hard drive is upgradable and the unit is more affordable.
But, the main reason for my pre-order is that Sony listened to its customers BEFORE the big E3 show and offered a console that was superior in every way to the rival, Xbox ONE.
Its about time that Microsoft stops trying to reinvent the wheel, at our expense and simply listens to customers and delivers what they need. This devious price setting war with the Publishers and Microsoft and Consumers was designed to tackle the used game market head on - well, it failed miserably.
But, we have not heard the last of this, they will try again.
So, Xbox Fanboys - don't be so hasty to empty your wallets straightway for a company that has still to prove to consumers that owning an Xbox ONE is good value for money. That takes time.
Capt Maverick in F16 fighter - "Maverick to Control. I've finished my sweep of the hostile terrotories and I'm heading back to the Aircraft Carrier."
Control to Maverick - "Say again, Maverick ? You've only just taken off."
Capt Maverick in F16 fighter - "Yeah. I know. But, I need to get back as I forget to login to my Xbox One and the 24 hr internet time limit has nearly expired."
Control to Maverick - "Understood. Maverick. When you get back we'll see if there's a way to reconfigure your $50 million jet to connect to the Xbox One remotely."
Capt Maverick in F16 fighter - "You're joking, right ? That's asking the impossible/"
Control to Maverick - "We know, Maverick. Just kidding. After all, we are talking about Microsoft products."
