Sure, but obviously, the review didn't affect sales of the game. Like jski said, "What do the sales have to do with anything?" Did you buy the game to get a good rating? Or do you need other people to like it for it to mean something?
Also, You have to admit that all of the great parts of the game are highlighted in the review. The awesome gun fights, scenery, quests, cars/vehicles, side activities, and general gameplay.
If explicit material like what was discussed in the review exists in the game, people should know about it before they buy it. And, if any of those explicit things effected the total score, it makes sense to me. Obviously, the reviewer values positive storylines, not ones that constantly demean women. It's not really that big of a mystery.
The game got a 9/10 (a great score) because of misogynistic content and inconsistent character behavior. It says it right at the top!
Point taken, but I don't think that's the only thing keeping women from playing mature games. In general, I'd say it's the violence, death, and serious subject matter that do. It may be my opinion, but I really don't think that the majority of the female population will all of a sudden spring for games based on violence and death.
Also, there's plenty of things that offend me in video games, but a good game is a good game, period. I wouldn't let those types of things stop me from playing a good video game.
@OGKNav I agree, this is another solution. good point. I don't think men have anything against playing games with non-sexualized, female protagonists. That new game "Beyond: two souls" is a good example, and it looks like it's going to be great. A good game is a good game
If you want to see a change in this area, you need to get more girls to start playing mature video games. This probably will never happen, so this article is basically a moo point.
After all, companies make games for their audiences...
@buckxn right, but for those of us that already have batman there is very little reason to spend another $60 on the same game (on top of buying a new system). The added benefit of using the controller to change gadgets and view a map, are gimmicks that don't justify spending the extra money.
Also, I would venture to say that the majority of people who are interested in batman, like you and me, have probably already bought it, and are not holding out for it to come out on wii u. I bet you're in the minority on that one :)
