even though wonderbook sucked, sony's conference was awesome. I do however think there should be an article called "why Ubisoft won E3." their press conference ROCKED!!!
I disagree with this article. Wii U did not win E3. Ubisoft and sony's presentations were far better. I actually think wii u had the weakest lineup of games BY FAR. Pretty much every title introduced was a game for little kids. graphics for those games pale in comparison to more mature games shown at the other press conferences. For example, compare Pikman or New Super Mario to The Last of Us or Watch dogs. Also, the music for those games are basically midi tracks with annoying, fake sounding instruments. I'll take real orchestras, bands any day over the kiddy-music vibe of most nintendo games.
Also, what was the deal with that nintendo land. I think the announcer on Spike tv said it best when he said. "I can't believe they would end with something as flacid as a video game fireworks show."
My question is, why does it seem like everyone is rejoicing at nintendo's attempt to rehash games that are already out. Will any of us really want to buy Batman Arkham City or Mass Effect 3 again just so we can see the map on our controller?!
I wanted to see for myself just how many well reviewed Kinect games have there been. Those with an 8.0 score or above include: "The Gunstringer," "Dance Central 2," "Just Dance 3," "Dance central," "Dance Central 2,"Sesame Street Once Upon a Monster," "Forza Motorsport 4," and "Child of Eden."
The large majority of those are dance games. And if you take out the Sesame Street one (meant for kids) you're left with "The Gunstringer," "Forza Motorsport 4," and "Child of Eden" (also available for Playstation move). So that's TWO non-dance games exclusive to Xbox that have good ratings...is that really worth integrating??
Furthermore, if you can sit in front of your Xbox and say "Xbox, movies," how much more time would it take to press the button on your controller to do the same thing? My guess is, maybe 1 or 2 more seconds. I would imagine that putting a Kinect into the new Xbox would come with a significant price increase. Is it really worth it? Are the gimmicks worth it? I say no.
On a personal level, when I play video games, I do so to sit down, relax, and take a break from the days' work. I pretty much never want to flail my arms around, dance, or jump around just to make the guy on the screen react, and inaccurately react at that. If I want to work out, I'll get out of the house and go for a run...
