If you have Oblivion you should def play it!! I took some vacation time from work, while I was off I picked up a copy and ended sitting out the rest of my vacation on the couch playing. lol Great game! But yeah, the closest to GTA series is Saint's Row which is actuallypretty good; a lot better than what I figured for a new contender in that sort of game enviroment.
With all the new games coming out this month and over the past few weeks I've decided to save some moola and try out sites like gamefly. At least I won't be pissed if the game is sub-par... and if I think that game is a must have, then I'll just buy it from them. Win-Win situation for me.
Patches aren't required for a game to work... they're just to fix whatever the developers missed. Sometimes these glitches make the game better, other times they don't. If you can't get DSL or Cable in your area maybe look into Satelite... but I think thats even more pricey than Cable.
I feel that gamespot is pretty good with their ratings... I tend to share the same opinion on a lot of titles and scoring. I am disappointed that this game scored so low, I was hoping it woulda been better. But at least I didn't shell out $60 like I almost did, instead it's probably sitting on the counter at home in the gamefly envelope :)
