"If Nintendo wants to seriously compete with the rest of the industry, it needs more mature games"

The same thing has been said for the last 15-20 years since N64, and so far it hasn't been true. Nintendo has no issue with competing with the industry, because they aren't competing directly, and they know that. They have smart enough businessmen working for them to know that, right now, it's smarter to let Sony and MS battle it out, why they try to sell something different. And when I say "different" I don't mean "original." That's my problem, is that after being a rabid Nintendo fan since the 80s, the magic is fading for me. It's not cause I "grew up," I still see new games with the excitement a child would on Christmas, but for the last 5 years, it's been for PS3 games. I just know Nintendo can do something more with their francises, and they don't. And, I know, they won't. I don't think they will take chances, as long as their current executive team runs the company. And, that really pisses me off.

@SwimSwimHungry Hard to say, there are a LOT of good exclusives, so you wouldn't be disappointed. But, one thing I've noticed on PSN is that almost every new release is also downloadable, which makes me think that Sony is future-proofing, so they'll probably be available on PS4 as downloads. In any case, you'll probably have your answer in a few months.

@moc5 and those ambitious games have been done to death before, so I wouldn't use that word to define them (even though, I admit, I may like some of them better personally.) We've been playing Halo 4 for almost a decade. We've played AC3, FC3, ME3 before as well. Walking Dead? Emotional, powerful, but again ,we've played it before. As for Journey, I can't say that I've played a game like that before. And you're kidding yourself if you think Journey is not ambitious. With other cookie cutter games by devs like EA, Journey is, by far, the pure definition of ambition,

Gamespot, you get a lot of respect from me for this decision. I'm not going to act all pretentious and go into why this game rightfully deserves GOTY (it does), but here is something the haters should think about... First, play the game. Then, look at the nominee list and you'll probably notice that every other game on that list has been done to death. They are all excellent and hell, I even like some of them better personally, But they all contain a formula that we've been playing since 2007. HUD, minimap, lead me here, give me a small reward, rinse, repeat. Incidentally, Red Dead is the best of that category, and it's also a GOTY winner. But can anyone honestly tell me, since then, a game has surpassed Red Dead in a way deserving of GOTY? Sorry, by we've been playing Halo 4 and Farcry 3 for half a decade under different names. And don't even bring up AC3 because its actually a step back from 2. So try to look at the big picture and see why games like Demons Souls and Journey won ,and give GS praise for thinking outside the box. If they didn't, you'd probably just accuse them of selling out anyway...

@theTriquester The BBB grade is more dependent on the ratio of complaints to unresolved, and less on the actual number of complaints. Thankfully this means that a company that is spammed with baseless complaints would still have a high score, but a company that has just a few serious complaints that are unresolved, would have a lower grade. A complaint leads to a long an annoying process. First, the BBB sends the company a letter, then the company has to respond with documentation that the customer's complaint is baseless. Then the BBB contacts the customer and so on... Usually, the BBB will throw a complaint out (for instance, if a customer complains about a fee that they originally agreed to pay, this is actually one of the most common complaints) Not responding to complaints when the BBB contacts you regarding a customer is the worst possible thing you can do for your grade. Sad to see that SCEA is doing this but it's the reason they have an F.

@RavageCobra Just because you disagree with an opinion does not make it bias. Just because someone even has an opinion does not make it bias. If that were the case, every game review would be bias. I respect opinions even if I disagree with them if they have merit. And these opinions definitely have merit. Incidentally it would also mean GiantBomb is bias, and the GiantBomb staff are more opinionated than most game site staff.
