Nintendo has a much greater grasp on the market than Sega ever even came close to, in terms of both franchises and hardware sales. Other than the obvious franchises, hardware sales and portable hardware sales... Nintendo has this little thing called Pokemon. So people may 'want' Nintendo to become the next Sega (so would I sometimes, Metroid and Mario on PS3 would be awesome), for whatever reason, but that's a really hard pill to swallow if you look at Nintendo's financial history, and compare it with Sega's. Nintendo has 1.6 trillion yen in assets, at the end of 2011. I'm surprised people are even comparing the two. I'm not being a Nintendo fanboy here (I haven't turned my Wii on in 3 years), I'm just being logical. Oh, did I mention Pokemon?
