@vatorus You're totally right. The author of this article is the only person on the entire planet that is switching to PS4 (even though retailers are already seeing record numbers). I actually feel really bad for him. :( Since retailers are already stating that PS4 pre-orders are the biggest console pre-orders they've recorded for a console, it must mean that the author of this article that bought them all is in for some serious bankruptcy.
The issue that people are having is this score is way below the Metaritic average of 96. 96. Including some pretty damn glowing reviews. Even then, Tom is entitled to his own opinion and can give it an 80 if he wants. But here's the thing... his review sounds like he really doesn't give a crap. It sounds as if he went into this game not liking, or caring about, the genre in general. It's kind of a kick in the face to the developers when you have someone like that, reviewing something that you gave five years of your life to. It would be like Kevin V writing an EA sports review. Again, wouldn't be a problem, but when you see 60 reviews and one review on the extreme low end that is not written with the type of passion of the others, sorry, but that tells me he shouldn't be writing about games in general.
@jadaski1 I agree, and I will probably be buying PS4 at first. But, my plan is to edventually own both I can only assume that XBOX will have enough good exclusives to at least make me buy it a year later at a reduced price
I suggest you own both systems, and enjoy the different strengths of each. It's a radical concept, but I guarantee you'll genuinely be a happier gamer and less negative if you try out this unheard of, new-age way of thinking.
And don't give me the "not everyone is as rich as you and can't" BS. If you game even a medium to small amount, you'll be spending a lot of money over the next 5 years, and a few hundred extra will not make a significant difference. Plus, the exclusives for both systems are worth it. Closing yourself off to AAA exclusives from either side makes you, quite frankly, close minded if not stupid. Unless you, of course, enjoy all this drama?
To those those that say this isn't a huge graphical upgrade, that's true. But look at launch games for the 360 and PS3 like Folklore or Elements of Power. They look AWFUL compared to today's standards. The real upgrades occur during the system's life cycle. PS3 is probably the best example of that when compared to older systems.

@kbaily can you list three new genres that have never been done before, or, at least (to make it easier for you) two that have not been influenced by other genres?
@RedWave247 I'm not really a PC gamer (except for an MMO phase in 2004 to 2010). But, I acknowledge that your post was awesome and that I agree with it.
@Tygraph I wonder what happened to the PS ORBIS. They were teasing that name last year. And, if you put ORBIS and VITA together, you have "Circle of Life."
But yeah, it would sound weird and probably end up being an issue for them. PS4 would at least be recognizable.
