I'll go back to what I thought when the initial news about Titan was canceled. Destiny just came out and Blizzard saw what a boondoggle that was and just "nope'd" the Titan project and that was that.
Simply, it's a steady income for the companies and nothing more. When content is being pushed out on a regular basis [a major patch every 3/4 months], I can see a subscription having merit. When companies started to use the subscription as a coercion tactic when there is a lack of content, gamers left in droves.
1. Actually build an online community. Enough with the silly gamer codes and just have everyone use a gamertag and actually build an online infrastructure for multiplayer games and a forum. XBL and PSN are what you should be mimicking and not trying to be "innovative" about it. Innovation only works when you "add" value to a product.
2. Fire your marketing department. They suck and have failed to promote your products adequately. Actually find a team who cares about your products and know how to sell it.
3. Release new games. I don't even mean IPs. I mean new games. A remade Zelda and a fun but done Mario game is not the way.
As for the 3DS, lots of great games on there and it has gotten more use out of me recently but open up the GBA library already!
