@JustArtificial @kade1001 I guess what I don't understand is what this guys accolades are to justify at least 3 articles/reports on the game industry?
As president of Silicon Knights he has released 9 games in over 21 years. Only 3 games total in the last decade (Gamespot scores listed): Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (8.2) Too Human (5.5) X-Men Destiny (4.0)
With scores like that why would anyone want to throw this guy a bone and let him go on and on about the game industry, one he apparently doesn't do well in anymore. Maybe he should have stuck with his original career aspirations as a Phys Ed Teacher?
Who gives two shits what Denis Dyack is saying? Why is his opinion so "important"? I mean really, why is there always a gamespot report about this asshat and his various epiphanies?
So he was a significant part of the team that created a hit gamecube game 11 years ago, that and a dollar might get you a McD Apple Pie. (Mind you the dollar would most likely come from Kickstarter)
The best thing is that from the various statements he has made about the industry on this website and others, he seems to have his fingers so far from the pulse of what's going on that those fingers may indeed reside up his own ass.
When I was a kid back in the early 90s, games were different then. I mean you had some games that went across all platforms but not like today. Every console had their major exclusives and that was a big factor for going with Nintendo or Sega. Playing the "I've got exclusives" will only get you so far in todays markets.
The overall differences of the WiiU to the Sony and MS consoles are what in my observation doing the most damage. They are not equal, games cannot easily be crossed over. Why make a cross platform game then remake that same game for use on the WiiU, developers wont.
While you have Sony and MS doing their own unique games, they don't champion that stance nearly as hard as Nintendo does. Unfortunately, the day will sadly come when the only games out on Nintendo are the games they themselves make, because they will have turn their backs on the developing industry.
Using steam or origin, you are basically renting the games because you have to be connected to their servers for verification to play. For example if steam went out of business you are good and screwed. Yet I can still play my defunked console games (dreamcast or whatever) whenever I want.
I feel ya on that. I get a game for the story, not how many Co-Op people I can jam into my game experience.
I personally hate how Co-op every game has gotten, not everyone has an army of people constantly floating around to play games with, nor does everyone want that.
