Nice stuff Kevin. ESO is definitely a game I will play during the obligatory, "First 30 days free with purchase" just so I can go and see places in Tamriel that we have never been able to go to like Orsinium, Elsweyr, and Highrock etc. I will be hopeful that it does more to reel me in after that, but I am skeptical that it will do any more than what SW:ToR did and offer me a fun place to play with pals in a familiar setting for a few months. There is nothing wrong with that. ArcheAge sounds like it is offering more than that though and I agree, that is intriguing.
@thenephariouson i would agree with you were it not for the other baggage they want to bring to the table with it in the form of the kinect always having to be on and the myriad other intrusive features. if it was ONLY the cloud and this type of thing to improve the game play experience, then yes. it's not though.
Until I see the proof that this is how they will handle their business model over the course of a year or so, I am gonna stick with my PC, Steam, and the Occulus Rift when it comes out. I will buy those consoles when I have assurances that they aren't getting hacked, breaking, run more quietly, are smaller, and don't cost as much. I absolutely refuse to buy the xbone(because of the kinect requirement) and I LOVED both my xbox and 360.

i got to level cap on my TR. i like the game. it's like a game you can jump into for an hour and come back in a week for some quick action. it doesn't have that "lived in" mmo feel though mostly because it is all close quarters instances like GW1. the combat is cool and fast paced though, and their f2p model is LIGHT YEARS BETTER than Star Wars: TOR's f2p model.
solid review tom! i read it all the way through and it sounds like the stuff that was frustrating or tedious or just didnt make sense in the context of the game would have worn on me too. other than that sounds like it's great.
@the_big_doggg Gerstmann at giantbomb talked about the game on i love mondays this morning and said about the same thing kevin said. does he toe the line for cbs too? i don't think either of them do. i think they write their honest opinions and jeff backed his up years ago by standing by a review of a game and getting fired for it. these guys put their money where their mouths are. if you are gonna spit out bile about a review, at least make sure you are well informed.
i kinda don't care because i can't stand the business practices of gamestop, but not being able to get used games without a fee that has no justification at all is pretty bad.
