My advice: Don't download firmware updates from anywhere other than the official Sony website. They are always a little slower posting the PC download. Just be patient.

I was hoping for an Ace Combat game for the PS3 but this one looks great too.

Are you talking about EndWar? The game is indeed an RTS and even supports voice commands so you can look like a total nut shouting orders in front of your TV :D

The hologram thingy is just a cinemtaic trailer; gameplay is nothing like that. Check this gameplay footage demoed by the Fragdolls.

You'll have to wait until they are released on PSN (if ever). The architecture of a PS3 is totally different from a PC and there's no way the code written for a PC would run on a PS3.

I think there's too many obstacles to overcome for custom avs to be used in the forseeable future.

Maybe in time it'll become more likely.

Are they really? I mean, look at the avatars/icons in GS or any other gaming site. I've seen not only video game characters, but TV/movie actors, musicians, etc. and I haven't heard anyone is suing GS or CNET. I also think game publishers will be happy to provide avatars (for free) for PSN of their ganes; and it's just a tiny JPEG, so how hard can it be?

Oh, well. We just have to be patient.

I think gamespot is one of the more honest game reviewers. Clearly they do not have any intention to sell the games they review. Can't trust a critic if they aren't critical. And the word of the gamer's is one of the worse ways to gauge the success of a game, because gamers are extremely biased, look at fan-boyism. Some of the most popular games are the worse games ever produced.juster25t

I'm not sure about the honest part, but will leave that discussion for another time. My problem with GS reviews lately is that they seem to be never satisfied. If a game stays true to a successful game mechanic then GS say something like "it's much of the same previous game" and give it a low score. If the game does indeed introduce something new then the game has an "identity crisis" and also receives a low score. Other times it's "too easy" or "too hard" but it just seems that they nitpick at anything they can find to lower the scores. Maybe in their mind that gives them more credibility or whatever, but to me thay just lost their objectivity.

You can use custom pics for your Users but not for your display for PSN in the friends list. You are stuck with the provided avatars there.lyndonAPI
Why is that? Is Sony afraid everyone will have an obscene picture as their avatar? Or is it because of copyright issues? Anyway, I think Sony should implement some system where you can submit your pic for approval and then be able to use it as your online avatar.

"For the first time, Rockstar gave us hands-on access to both the PS3 and 360 versions of GTA IV. The good news is that no matter which system you prefer, you're going to have a great-looking game to play."

Sounds great, but why will it "likely be delayed to Spring 2009?"Floppy_Jim

Just because this is an ongoing trend in the video games industry. I don't have actual statistics, but most games never make the first announced release date. I'm just happy this game is not cancelled.

I bought an American PS3 (110V) and I only have 220V where I live. I've been using a converter since July last year and haven't had any problems at all. Just make sure you buy a converter with enough power (in watts). I don't remenber what I got but I can PM you later.

One other thing, if you're worried about warranty you might want to check if using a voltage converter voids the warranty. Some companies have certain rules, I'm not sure about Sony, though.
