@opus153: Yeah, good thing Sony is around to give us Driveclub, The Order: 1886, Knack 1&2, Killzone Shadow Fall, infamous Second Son, The Last Guardian, Gran Turismo Sport, Until Dawn, etc. so we could avoid mediocrity this generation...
There seems to be a double-standard when reviewing Xbox exclusives. When an indie developer, Nintendo, Sony or third party developer releases a nostalgic game just like an old classic (particularly metroidvania clones) they are praised for being just like the old originals and get high scores.
However, when MSFT does this they are panned and get lower scores than other "retro" style games. It's hard to reconcile how Crackdown gets a 5 and The Last Guardian got a 9 and was praised for playing just like an old PS2 game - bad camera and clunky controls included.
Games should be reviewed on what they are - not what the reviewer wished they were. This game does what it set out to do very well and was upfront about what it was trying to be. If you didn't like the first Crackdown and/or didn't want to play more of it this is not a game for you. If you are, this game is a treat.
