[QUOTE="NSR34GTR"][QUOTE="schober2004"]Ok, get over yourselves and realize that the PC gaming world is not full of torrents. Also GAMES DO NOT RUN ON INTEL GMA's!!!!!!!!!!!(for the 80%+ percent of people that are stuck gaming on those.)Ned_Flandishgodfather 2 appeared days before on a torrent site and so did a bunch of other games. That's pretty much irrelevant, since that's not something that occurs exclusively to PC games. All you need is some guy in the factory where they make the discs or a guy in a distribution center to leak one copy to a scene release group to get a game out so it's not like this can't be done with console games either. True. But in order to play a pirated console game you need a modded console (as far as I understand). Most people won't bother modding their console for fear of bricking it.
I notice some of you guys really dislike Oblivion and Fallout 3. I understand that they don't really hold up next to what the older games in the series did, but I feel as though I should play them because they're kind of like a gaming cultural phenomenon and I'd feel like I'd be missing out. I at least want to try them out.
i think a 4850 is fine...IMaBIOHAZARD
Ah, good. I hope so. It's taken enough effort already to convince my wife to let me spend as much as I am. (If I was wanting to spend that much money on clothes for her, then there wouldn't have been a problem...) :D
I don't think I'm gonna be able to spend the money on a 4870. :(Definitely check out Team Fortress 2 and FEAR 2 as well.
Also, is there any way to make that 4850 a 4870? The 4850 may not be up to the task with a few of the newer titles.

At the moment I have an ancient pc (I'm still using a CRT monitor!). Fortunately, my tax refund check is supposed to be coming this week and I plan on using some of it to buy a new, fairly capable pc (this one).
Since my current pc is so old, I've been really out of the loop as far as pc gaming goes. I would like you guys' opinions on what games I should look at getting. I'm interested in anything made since 2005. I'm not really able to play too many FPSs because I get Doom-sick.
What I'm looking at:
GTAIV, Burnout Paradise, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Dead Space, Oblivion, Bioshock, Fallout 3.
EDIT:
adding to my list by suggestion : Left4Dead, The Witcher, TF2, Assassin's Creed, Supreme Commander, Empire Total War, Divine Divinity, CoD4, Empire: Total War
I already own NeverWinter Nights, KOTOR (for XBox), Fallout 1 & 2, Diablo II, Starcraft, and WoW (stopped playing WoW years ago - monthly fee was killing me and I decided I needed my life back).
I am an XBOX user, and the points you made have some validity, but the PS2 is still your better option. XBOX stuff is getting scarce and if you have an issue or do not like something your stuck. Also, unless you are like me and willing to learn how to clean them yourselves, most used XBOX's are destined to reach the "not reading Discs" problem quick. I bought a used XBOX right before christmas and I already had to fix it by january, its a lot of responsibility.mattykovaxI've had my Xbox since 2003 and I haven't once had a problem with it. I hadn't played it in the past six months and I picked it back up again three days ago, and it's still working great.
OK, so the computer I have right now is ancient and I'm planning on buying a new one with some of my tax refund money.
Here's what I'm currently looking at buying:
Dell Studio XPS
Vista Home Premium 64-bit
Intel Core i7-920
6GB DDR3 SDRAM
640 GB hard drive
ATI Radeon HD 4670 (512MB)
Also included is a 23-inch monitor and 15 months of McAfee.
$1,179
I would like to know if this is worth the price.
Also, I'm pretty much a noob with computer gaming so I'm not sure what I need/want. What kind of game performance should I be able to get out of this machine (Fallout 3, etc). And how "future-proof" is it (I would like to not have to do any major upgrades for at least two years)?
[QUOTE="JimmyJames210"]You insult me?I played Bioshock, Prey, COD 4, COD WAW, Soul Calibur 4, The Orange Box all on the 360.So I know what a 360 game looks like. The Conduit looks like a 360 game, so don't tell me that I don't know what I am talking aboutRocky32189It doesn't look like a 360 game. Look at this comparison: 360 Game Conduit Thank you for posting that. I've never understood all the people hyping this game having anywhere near 360 graphics. To me, it looks like a really nice XBox1 game. Maybe a little better than FarCry or something like that. BTW, the only current-gen console I own is a Wii, so I'm not just hating.
