Nobody would pay taxes if there were no threat of further government action against them for not doing so. Government uses the threat of violence to acquire the property of people who would otherwise not pay them. There is nothing hyperbolic or ignorant about that statement. That is the very definition of robbery. Refuse to pay taxes and the government will either violate your property rights by garnishing your wages, or take away your freedom by locking you in a cage. Resist these assaults on your rights and you will be shot. You have not as yet demonstrated violence. Do you know what violence means?[QUOTE="famicommander"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] I'm glad you brought this up again because I'm still waiting for you to answer my question from before.....what violence? Or is your entire argument hyperbole and ignorance?LJS9502_basic

Oh and it appears you didn't study government in school. There is no such thing as rights without a government.
Ahahahahahaha, this guy thinks rights flow from government. Rights flow from the nature of man and government has nothing to do with it. I would suggest you read into natural law theorists such as John Locke, Hans Hermann Hoppe, Murray Rothbard, and Walter Block among others.[QUOTE="famicommander"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]Wrong. The answer to that is PEOPLE are the cause. Government is just a word we use to describe a political entity of PEOPLE.LJS9502_basicIt's not "people" in the broad sense, but a specific group of persons. Generally, the most amoral and corrupt persons a society has to offer. Just because a particular group of persons has won the approval (or indifference, or bitter acceptance) of a majority of people in a given area doesn't mean it's okay for them to commit robbery or murder or kidnapping.Depends on the country.....here where I live the people do have a say...so if corruption is in government they are partly to blame in general...not specific individuals. There is no such thing as a government free of corruption. To expect such a thing would be to expect a square to be round. Government is in essence an institution of pure force, and just because they can gain a democratic majority of support in their use of force does not make it legitimate. Adolph Hitler was elected democratically. Everything he did was legal, but nobody would argue with a straight face that what he did was legitimate. You're essentially just arguing for majoritarianism, and majoritarianism is always destructive to minority groups.
[QUOTE="famicommander"][QUOTE="Fairmonkey"]why?thegergBecause I believe armed robbery is wrong, and that's what taxation amounts to. Nobody would pay taxes if there weren't a threat of violence involved. You seem to be very confused. Taxation is not robbery. Maybe you need to learn what robbery is. Robbery is when someone uses violence or the threat of violence to acquire the property of another individual. So yes, taxation is robbery. It is the most common and glaring example.
