What do you mean by "PS3 Linux is opened up for more userability". Linux is VERY open. And Linux has never been a beginner's Operating System and Never will be.
Of course it was on purpose. The #1 reason behind their poor start is the inclusion of the pricey Bluray drive in their console. However, that was a move that they ahd to make to push gaming for the future. It drove up the price of the machine, hence making less sales since the consumer price also went up due to that. They made losses, but all expected.
What do you mean without Bluray? Do you mean, you think that the Playstation 3's Bluray is optional? I don't really get what you're asking. But, the only way to get Resistance (full game) is to buy it on Bluray disc. All Playstation 3 games are on Bluray Discs.
