can ps3's play AVI format vid?

Topic. If so, how? cuz i know it plays mp4/ipod format vids, but i cant seem to get avi on, is there a way?

You need to encode them properly in MP4 format. Most MPEG formats will work as well and AVC encoded.ex-paranoia

i encode them all the same using Red Kawa, some work some don't.  I have no idea why though.

Yes, you can play AVI files using a media exteder in your pc... The program I use is called Tversity Media Server... basically if Windows Media Player can play it, the PS3 can... You ought to check it out..
