Happy to say the game is running much better now on my PS4. Far fewer crashes, less stuttering and the glitch in my spaceship isn’t nearly as frequent. Really makes the game worth playing now.
@chakan2: It’s definitely not for everyone. You have to enjoy the rhythm of harvesting materials and exploration, plus base building and ship improvements. I find the game a relief from all the competitive shooters out there.
@the_mad_onion: Did you by a disc? I downloaded mine from the PS store and I wonder if that makes a difference. I had no problem with the pre-update version but this latest version reminds me Skyrim on the PS3. It’s that bad.
@chubby170: Yeah, I enjoyed the solitude - you felt like a true pioneer depending on your survival skills to get by. But I guess it would be a natural evolution to see the territory you discovered settled by “newcomers.” Fortunately, the universe is big place and it’s easy to get away.
I loved the original version, and the improvements are great, but seriously, by any metric, this game is broken on the PS4. My ship is glitched, the game endlessly stutters, and it crashes on average about every 30 - 45 mins. (I have sent so many crash reports to Sony I feel like it’s part of the game). I can’t fathom how Hello Games could release this update and not know how damaged it is. If you own a PS4, don’t bother with this game until they’ve fixed it.
Enjoying the changes, all are an improvement over the original. But the game crashes about once every session, the frame rate stutters are persistent and entering my ship often results in clipping - letting me see only the floor, or only the right side, or no cockpit walls on the left. I renamed my ship Rusty’s Buggy Crapfest, and that’s kinda how I would describe the state of the game.
@amaneuvering: Imaginging and experiencing are two different things, which is the obstacle vr has to overcome. I believe it will, but it's not there yet.
