@warriors30 @l0ngshot @Clam0 I disagree. Although the setting is different, both games have levels that open progressively, weapons and armor that can be upgraded by questing, and characters that can improve their respective abilities. Not to mention loot gathering, vendors and the like. True, the primary combat is different, because one relies on guns and the other does not, but even so, with Destiny's inclusion of magic, knives and swords, there is a likeness. Which is not to say one is better than the other, only to point out to the reviewer that his review of DS2 overlooked many of the same elements he is critical of in Destiny, most notably repetition, lack of story and grinding. And it is a fair critique of Kevin's review to point this out, because he is not judging the game independent of any other, he is evaluating it based on his experience as someone who has played both.

@greaseman1985 @dmdavenport Except that they are not "completely" different. Having played both, I can attest to their similarity.

I don't get it, Kevin. I've played Dark Souls 2, which you gave a 9, and now I'm playing Destiny, a 6 in your opinion. You complain about lack of story, repetition and grinding in Destiny, yet DS2 is little else. And DS2 lacks the visual acuity and fluid game-play of Destiny in every respect. So why the disparity in your reviews? Is it be because you over-reacted to the marketing of Destiny, which somehow offended your sense of correctness and affected your expectations? You admit to your prejudice ("everything about the game screams Big Budget...") but why does the marketing have any relevance? I had a great time playing DS2, and I'm having a great time playing Destiny, and how either game was marketed has absolutely no effect on my enjoyment. Sadly, Kevin, I have to say I've admired your reviews in the past, but this one is so off the mark it's ludicrous.

@vl4d_l3nin Souls games have always been about the journey, not the destination. Getting to the boss is the challenge, and, unlike so many other games, From doesn't do a cheap ramp up of the difficulty just to make the boss seem "boss."

@lorider25 Don't know, but there are lots playing DS2. I duel against them all the time and they are good players.

I don't understand the point of this review. Everyone knows by now DS2 is not for casual players, so to give it a 5 because you found out they weren't kidding is just stupid.

How can you review a game you haven't finished, leave out a major component (on-line pvp and pve) and then give it a score of 5 as if it were broken? I hope Gamespot has the sense to pull this piece of crap off the site as soon as possible.

There's no reason why the game mechanics in Titanfall couldn't be adapted for a SP campaign, except that the devs were too lazy to build one. That's why we got 1/2 a game for the price of a complete one, and the score should reflect that. No better than a 8.
