Diablo III was the first Diablo game I've ever played and I actually enjoyed it a lot. The only problem is the replay value. There's only so many times I could continue playing through the same dungeons over and over again. It's weird, because the game isn't necessarily short, but it feels really short because there's only four "destinations" to explore. I definitely enjoyed the first one the most... it had a great dark/gothic feel to it.
I think the experience a game creates is one of the most important factors for a lot of the staff at Gamespot, and why shouldn't it be? These guys have played so many different games in their lifetimes that it's probably not easy to find something new and unique that stands out like Journey did. Even though I'm a PS3 owner I've never played the game, but based on what I've seen of the game and what I've read about it I can honestly say I have no problem with it being 2012's Game of the Year. My prediction for Gamespot's pick was Guild Wars 2 and my own vote was cast for Xcom: Enemy Unknown.
@Jim_bo_bo I think you should watch the review again. Carolyn actually pointed out a number of things that felt unsatisfying or frustrating during gameplay. Compared to some of the other racing games released this year, a 7.5 is probably about right.
To any Avenged Sevenfold fans complaining about this song, you have to remember that not only did they lose their drummer but also their best songwriter when The Rev passed away. If you look at the list of composers throughout Avenged Sevenfold's discography you will notice that The Rev either wrote or co-wrote most of their incredible stand-out tracks.
...so no, Avenged Sevenfold will not be the same going forward, but that doesn't mean they've completely lost it either.
