There is no doubt that this looks really cool. But will it really move the cyberpunk genre forward? The pose of that cyborg chick, a very sexualized warrior/woman being taken down by the system, is actually a classic image from Ghost in the Shell, a movie that came out nearly 20 years ago. Check out the poster image, its the same deal!
I'm hoping for a good story as well, but there isn't anything too creative in naming your game after a genre. CD Projekt Red is great but I can't help but be a little skeptical.
"When it's ready"? Wasn't that the way 3D Realms marketed Duke Nukem Forever?
So we'll see this game in 2026. Ok, I guess since it's CD Project Red, I'll wait.
Its going to be awesome!! No doubt about it!! But what I love more is that soundtrack!! Where can I find that song!?
I've seen this like twenty times and I never get tired of it. The attention to detail makes the trailer look poignant and impressive from every point of view.
Some other artists artwork! Aparently there will be Aliens! :P
Behind the scenes of the teaser IS UP!!!!
This game would be incredible if I get to play that bitch and go on killing those cops who are as good as the the desus ex hero. CDK projekt games are generally hard with strong AI.... so this game would be incredible.... where you can slavage robo cops or mutant cops parts and implement in your body. I can relate this girl like some kind of future gen witcher... and the bullet sheild is just like the QUEN power :). I am already in love with this game \m/
New video starring Mike Pondsmith talking about the game... IS UP!!!
Wow, amazing how many people doesnot get this game at all! And thn u decide to bitch about the friggin name? Cyberpunk 2077 is based on the pen and paper rpg Cyberpunk 2020 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk_2020). Yes, the art design is supposed to be like that, a futuristic world from a 1990s perspective.....the whole cyberpunk genere (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk) is supposed to be like that! All mordern cyberpunk themes take influence from William Gibson's books, Bladerunner, Cyberpunk 2020 and Shadowrun. As a fan of the genere (ghost in the shell ftw!!) I cant w8 to explore the pen and paper world in 3d!
Very intriguing and original title...:/
I hope it does better story wise, a good RPG cannot go far with a shallow story whatever art direction (which doesn't look groundbreaking either) graphics or combat system it may sport.
Kind of cool, but lacks design direction. CD Projekt did well with fantasy, but seems like they are in need of a good sci-fi art director. The designs in this trailer are extremely generic and lack strong identity....unlike the Witcher series.
For all those who wonder what is this horrible name is all about check this link:
This game could be a great RPG. There is no guarantee but since this is from the people that made the Witcher games there is a good chance that this game will rock.
It's by the same people behind the Witcher series. I think they've earned the benefit of the doubt. This game looks like it will be awesome :)
ARRFAHGVHGCVSGHDVSWGUDCFVHGESJDVFYG! 2015 and when its ready! in the words of Homer Simpson," BUT I WANT IT NOOOOW!"
CyberPunk 2077? What an awful damn name! Ah, I like CDPR and The Witcher series, but I really can't stand "Steam Punk" or "Cyber Punk" genres. The art direction is always bad and that sort of sci-fi/fantasy world is really corny and predictable.
@ObeseChipmunk it's based on existing material that used the name already. there's so few cyberpunk games that I don't mind if it borrows things, I want to experience the old current and new of the genre in an awesome video game. the girl might not be any more than a nod from the developers to one of their favorites. the trailer indicates almost nothing, i just know there's so potential material that will feel fresh enough to many people not familiar already
@isahunt luckily it's a difficult task to make a game that sucked as bad as DNF so there's that.
@khatibi22 Especially when its just a teaser
It's from the British Band "Archive". It's included in the album "Controlling Crowds" and has the song number 02 with the title "Bullets".
I knew about this song since that album was released in the year 2009 ;P
@no_fear_in_hell Thanks, a lot pal!
@Lucasdxx Geez, someone has their cynic glasses on today.
Anyway, whatever it is, I'm sold!
@kyle_krebs Agreed. After playing the witcher 2 (haven't played the first one though) they definitely deserve , at least, the benefit of the doubt. I'm still playing witcher 2, love it. I believe CD Projeckt its a really competent studio
@chessmaniac Its just a "teaser" trailer. They all follow the same script:
1. Eye-catching cinematic that reveals little or nothing about final product
2. Highly visible logo to associate awesome cinematic with game title.
3. A "pre-order here / coming soon" line.
There will be other trailers later with more direct relevance, don't you worry.
@chessmaniac I think trailers are just supposed to get your attention, right? There's no need for it to be informative. Anyway, just what I think.
Also, we can judge the graphics only when we see some gameplay footage. But nowadays its hard to see bad graphics.
@nameaprice In the secret text at the end of the trailer it says no sooner then 2015...
@eyehategod420 You can't get more corny and predictable than the tired elves and dwarves fantasy genre, and yet CDPR managed to make that fresh and interesting with The Witcher series. If you really hate the setting then by all means, take a pass. But I for one would at least give it a look once its released. As @nameaprice said, if anyone can do it right, its them.
@eyehategod420ok? then dont buy it you bonercone
That's true, one of the only Cyberpunk game I ever played was Oni, and even that had a female protaganist with purple hair (sound familiar? :P)
