Avenged Sevenfold's new single in Black Ops II

California metal band extends partnership with Activision and Treyarch with new song "Carry On" to be featured in latest Call of Duty.

Activision is again working with metal band Avenged Sevenfold. The band's new single "Carry On" will be featured in November's Call of Duty: Black Ops II, the band has announced. The track is embedded below.

Metal music + Call of Duty = ?

The Huntington Beach, California-based band also wrote a song for 2010's Call of Duty: Black Ops. The appropriately named "Not Ready to Die" was featured in the game's Call of the Dead zombies downloadable content.

Black Ops II not only features the musical work of Avenged Sevenfold, but also Academy Award-winning composer and Nine Inch Nails leader Trent Reznor, who created the game's title track. The rest of the game's soundtrack was composed by Jack Wall, who was behind Mass Effect 2's music.

ugh can't devs make "original" music for their games instead of using artists to promote their games. If a game is good it will sell if its really good it will sell alot and if its hyped it will sell and be sold later.... or not bought at all (yarrrr mateys)

Post an article about A7X and watch all the skinny jeans emo boys come out. I'm surprised that they could see the keyboard with their chick hair blocking their eyes.

I wouldn't buy this game if it had Celtic Frost soundtrack, let alone Avenged Sevenfold...

this is really not that good, in case the developers thought they were doing something outstanding.... maybe for Zombies it has a great sound to kill slow moving dumb zombies ;) ... but i dont think this is any good for multi or even for the start CG movie that usually the games have.

PS: i like all kinds of music and im not trying to disrespect anyone with my thoughts or comments :)

Well, at least the rappin' days are over.

Trent Reznor couldn't help this game from sucking. Maybe he will. Seven Fold? Who are they? Nobodies. This game is for nobodies or for Noobs. Newsflash: the people that started COD since "Modern Warfare" DO NOT play this garbage anymore. Those days are over. This franchise is for Noobs coming in to gaming. They should create a category for the type of game called "noobs to gaming." This crap sucks. Yes I came on here to hate. I hate this company for giving loyal fans the same crap OVER AND OVER AGAIN. You can't play this shit, unless you're a brain dead zombie. Even the controls feel horrible. Play BF3 or the upcoming MOH for a better war experience. This shit sucks.

Well I was excited when I read Avenged Sevenfold, then didn't care once I saw Call of Duty. I'll just download it on iTunes. I also don't know that I'd categorize Avenged Sevenfold as metal, they are more Hard Rock almost, maybe some songs could be metal.

So apparently as soon as you hear 'real' metal you automatically hate A7x, Slipknot, & you know, all those other mainstream bands. And of course it's not hipster at all to think that.

And what's even with all this 'real' & 'fake' metal BS? Music is music & genres exist for the sake of convenience & nothing more. Listen to some of Devin Townsend's stuff & tell me it's crap simply because it's not like other stuff in the genre.

People have different tastes in music. Get over it already.

Poor Avenged Sevenfold. Whatever they may have achieved musically before 08:59 September 25 2012, as soon as this article came up on Gamespot they didn't stand a chance.

Shouldn't be surprised. A shitty game generally gets shitty music.

Well this oughta be a douchebaggy combination. Glad I don't care for anything going on here. What do you expect? COD to get a real band, like a good punk band, or some real underground hip-hop?

If there is anything to like about the gaming community is we are all still real music fans, and we know what we hate, and these comments are filled with hate for false metal.

If there is a marketing plan that will never ever work this is it, I don't care, I won't buy black ops 2 for this and I won't buy Warfighter for a linkin park song, I will probably buy both anyway, but on their merits as games.

Also as soon as a melody or harmony comes in everyone hates it for some reason.

Guitars playing is what they are all about for me.  Everything else is good but Sin is pretty damn good.

Well, I listened to the song and I like it, but the band just isn't the same without The Rev.

Wait, Arent Avenged Sevenfold the same band which was popular in like 2004 and on Fuse and all of a sudden, MTV took them and made them into popstars and they lost their fanbase so now they return to make a song for a game which is targeted to adolescent teens who think it is cool to go around after killing one person and call them the n word and say horrible things about their mother even though they died forty times and can average their kill death ratio better than they can average their grades in school? WOW! THANKS AVENGED SEVENFOLD! YOU GIVE ME ANOTHER REASON TO BE GLAD I QUIT LISTENING TO THE RADIO!

I like Avenged Sevenfold. I'm glad they didn't go with someone like Lil' Wayne, that would really give CoD haters something to whine about.

@Thehobb This song came out in conjunction with the zombies part. Who said this has anything to do with the multi part? Where did you get that from?

Kashmiro

@Hairygrim Yea, I don't know why people feel they have to put themselves into a Genre. I like A7X, As I Lay Dying, Blink 182, John Legend... etc. Some days I just pick what I want to listen to based on the weather or my mood, and I enjoy it all. I don't know why people are so single minded.

And those guys oughta be shot for dressing and portaying the fakeness that they are. I would love to see them in an uncomfortable situation invovling some real hardasses.

@MeestaPleasta He actually hurt his throat after Waking the Fallen and has difficulty screaming for long periods because of it.

 @MeestaPleasta

If you claim to be a metal band and your singer can't even scream well, then you should stop, like now. It's a travesty that people like this get rich off of the garbage they make. Same goes for most everything else(sigh).

@shadow_Metroid I wish I had the internet to hide behind so I could say extremely douch-bag things to feel like I was cool. Regardless of your opinion there is no reason to say anything like that.

Dude, not every metalband uses screaming. ever heard of Power metal or Progressive Metal? (and i know that A7X is crap)

You know why there were so many of those bands? Well I bet you do, but I just gotta say it's because the sheep are fucking retarted. What's even worse is the top40 pop bullshit that makes me lose faith in humanity.

sambob530

@X-RS Currently. I've never liked A7X at all, but some of Linkin Park's old stuff was good before they did electronic music. I don't mind A7X's music, but their singer has such a whiny voice which actually manages to put me off completely.
