@CnConrad You're allowed to be offended, and you're allowed to mention that. But you have to put it all into context.
As you allude to, GTA is about killing 1,000s of people yet that's perfectly fine. Not at all offensive. That part it's ok to be considered JUST (a part of) A GAME.
Running people over. Not offensive. Causing wanton damage. Not offensive. Having access to guns (and rocket launchers). Not offensive. Having access to prostitution and drug and alcohol use. Not offensive. Extreme profane language. Not offensive. Gameplay based on illegal activity. Not offensive.
Not having a significant female character. WOO WOO WOO. Alert. Alert.
But the sexist aspect of it is TOO much. Afterall, there are only several female characters in the game, which is only many times more than many other games have.
Why are we allowed to offended at the sexism, and yet it's ok to turn a blind eye to all of the other transgressions?
Explain that one to me GS.
I have my own explanation.
It's ok to get offended at sexism as there is a sexist agenda. There are political beliefs that are being wielded.
And guess what? Your viewers that DO believe that a game is JUST A GAME don't want to hear that tripe.
They don't want to hear complaints about Gun use, or profane language, or wreckless driving etc etc - and why not? Because they just want some harmless, escapist fun.

That's a mean thing to say, but it rings true with me.
I personally found the GS review to be completely uninteresting and un-illuminating.
If a review is just a regurgitation of what we already know, what is being reported in multiple other sites, mixed up with some hyperbole, and a dash of outrage, then I think many of us could muster that up and not feel the need to derive an income from doing so.
Heck, take a look at Youtube and you'll see dozens doing a MUCH better and more entertaining (and unpaid) job.
@goggles123456 @Mega_Loser_2 @davedrastic I didn't hear Johnny mention that, and if he did, he didn't make that clear that that was what he was objecting to.
In fact it seems to me that the first few minutes of the piece was about the silliness of people considering 9/10 to be a low score.
It wasn't until approx midway that he raised the issue of people being angry as to WHY the score was lower than they wanted.
If the POINT of this piece is about personal attacks in the comments box then why is Carolyne the only one to be defended?
This site is riddled with personal attacks and people being unable to express a well thought out opinion - as it is with most other sites.

So it's the "just deal with it " which is so repugnant? We're not supposed to treat games as a fun medium? Is that it?
Asking questions about gender is one thing - but you have to be consistent with it.
If ALL GS reviews are going to be put under this microscope, then arguably fair enough. I personally think it's a little off singling out one game unless there's a real reason to do so.
Will GS do that? Of course not. Why would they be consistent when they can just stir up a shit storm once in a while.
Are there female characters in GTA V?
Yes.
To me, complaining that a game "only" got 9 is extremely silly - as it's a) up to the reviewer / review site, and b) a very high number anyway.
Having said that, I think it's understandable that people are upset by the review score on the basis that
a) the game appears absolutely tremendous and deserving of the highest accolade possible.
b) the (petty) reasons that were listed for the less than perfect score.
And in regards to the comment box - it's had inconsistent moderation for years - as with most discussion sites.
I really don't understand why it's such a problem for people to express their dissatisfaction about this review. Should we all be baking cookies for GS?
