Thanks for the input guys, I went ahead and updated to 8.1. Although I had a bit of a time tinkering with an uncooperative video driver, everything (as of now) seems to be running fine. I've only briefly tried a few games out, but they seem to be running alright as well, and that was my main concern.

I can find plenty of information comparing gaming on Windows 8.1 to Windows 7, but I currently have Windows 8 installed and I come up short when digging for answers related to the two closer cousins. My question is-- Is it worth it to finally give in to the annoying on-screen prompts to "Upgrade to Windows 8.1 for Free"? All of my games and everything run like a charm currently and I'm hesitant to mess with something that works, but I wanted some of your opinions and experience. Is there anything phenomenal about Windows 8.1 (gaming or otherwise) that would warrant me to make the jump? Also, I've heard about the mouse lag issue in 8.1, but is there anything else I should be worried about?

If anyone else is still having problems with it, I had to download the desktop version of Games for Windows to get GTA IV to work with Windows 8. For some reason, it had problems with the built-in Games for Windows app. Works like a charm now though.

It amazes me that people waste their time with this. Here's an idea- buy what you want/like. Xbox 720, PS4, PC, whatever. Hell, buy a Wii U if that's what you're into. A better use of time would be to stop letting that beloved platform that you obviously hold so dear collect dust while you're busy trying to come up with a one-hit kill argument against the others.

The show kind of dipped in quality in seasons 4 and 5 but it's picked back up so I'm back to loving it.

^this. I thought it was mediocre at best during seasons 4 and 5 (and some of 6 really), but the writers seem to have a bit of their mojo back. I'm actually liking it as much now as I did through the first several seasons.

I think I might just do that. Any recommendations? I have zero experience with sound cards, I've always just used the onboard.

I don't have a lot of interest in the Ouya. I already have the hardware I need (both PC and consoles) to play the games I want, and I can only see Ouya being a casual game experience. If I want to play a casual game, I have an Android phone for that.

I really liked Gunman Clive for what it was. It's kind of a Wild West Megaman clone. A bit too easy, but it passed time.

No. Even if guns were banned, it's not like people who wanted them couldn't still get them. So you'd have a higher ratio of criminals with guns while the average American doesn't possess an equal defense. You want gun crime occurrences to go up, ban them.

It definitely depends heavily on the type of game, but personally I prefer third-person in nearly everything but shooters. I even spend about half of my time playing Skyrim in third-person, although it does make combat a bit difficult at times.
