It's nice to see a single-player game staying single-player. Square Enix, you're making the right decision.
Don't ever do what you did in the past (Tomb Raider) where you included multiplayer. People don't like that. If the game was presented, first, in single-player than let it stay in single-player.
I feel bad for the people who were let go; however, to me, Final Fantasy is more of a turn-based strategy game than a massively-online multiplayer game.
Well, first thing, the president could do is change the name of the new final fantasy.
It sounds so stupid; come on:
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy XIII-2
Just go back to the numerical process. Stop re-using the same titles; it, under my assumption, probably confuses a good portion of your Final Fantasy audience.
Secondly, since you've announced Thief, you've already attracted a boat-load of old and new consumers. So, spend a good portion of your money, marketing this product.
Last, but not least, keep publishing major titles like Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider. This should provide a source of revenue.
Square Enix can pull themselves out of the ground, it's not too late.
