These new GPUs are way too expensive. They've inflated the price so much that people would rather look at last gen's cards, but since demand for those is high, even those ones barely drop in price. So if you wanted something decent on a budget, your best option is to spend a few hundred on an aging GPU that might already be struggling with newer games and certainly will be having big problems keeping up in the next 3-5 years. There's no winning here.
We saw Microsoft raising GamePass prices after buying Activision/Blizzard. I told my friend as soon as I saw the WWE deal that Netflix will be getting that money back from the customers soon. And sure enough, a price hike is in the near future.
The only thing I don't like is when they show a brief, all-CGI trailer. And then people say, "Wow that was hype! The game looks so good!" and all I can think is that we didn't even see the actual game...
IF Konami had put any effort into this, I might have bought it for the convenience of being on my console. As it stands, if I ever want to play these games again, I'll just play on PC with the widescreen mods and graphical fixes. It's sad when the modders put more effort into a game than the actual development company.
I'm not an Evangelion fan but I do like the idea of this. I wish there were more options for themed parts. However, the price on all of these components are marked up 2-3x as the plain looking ones, so I don't think I'd ever spend $4500 for any design when I could get the same parts in black for $2000.
I'm assuming we'll be hearing about more acquisitions from Sony soon. They want to compete in the arms race with Microsoft, but they don't have anywhere close to the same amount of funds, so they have to overcharge for their services. That's the only reason this makes sense for them. It doesn't make sense for the customers, however. Especially not when it's a slow period for Sony and Xbox has Starfield coming out on a superior service. Maybe an increase (of ~10%) would have been more accepted if Sony showed us the value of the service and acquisitions first and then raised the price, instead of raising the price and promising value in the future.
@markdelaney: Does it make you sad that you spent all this time playing a mediocre game so you could write down your detailed thoughts and then people lack the patience and/or reading comprehension to grasp how you felt? Like at this point I think you could stop at the score "5", then paste your favorite cookie recipe as the body of the review and nobody would know any different; they'd just argue whether it was a 5 or not.
I hope the review is a rehash of last year's review, and you forget to update the title just like they forget to change the icon names on PC (remember 2k20 still said 2k19?) Just put out a small paragraph explaining whatever they added to the in-game casino and leave it at that. Put the same amount of effort in the review as they put into the game.
@Barighm: They don't have to do a complete overhaul, but they could at least add animations, voice lines, and anything else that adds to the immersion if even just a little. I played The Show recently for the first time in a few years and they use the same canned animations that they've been using for at least 5 years. My friend who played last year's says he recognizes some of the same announcer calls. All I'm saying is they could at least put a little more work into expanding what they've already made each year.
