@mdboomer @Tychobrahi To your point, why is it that we always hear all the bad about CEO's or CD's? Why does no one talk about how creative, passionate and helpful they probably are. Internet is the mother of controversy.

@Khasym @Tychobrahi What I can believe is SEGA wanting a FPS game to compete with others in the market. How that was going to be handled is all Gearbox as the developer.

@Khasym @Tychobrahi You're saying Sega did the same exact thing 20 Century Fox did with Aliens 3 which is get a bunch of exes together in handling how the game's approach should be? I dunno about that.

I wonder whose idea it was to create a direct sequel? I believe it was Gearbox's. SEGA is the overseer but it stepped in to make hard decisions because they were not liking what was being shown much like how we were led to believe it was a great game through footage and a much different game in the box.

The whole thing was to not make this another video game movie tie-in. It was going to be a full budget AAA title with a very well developed story, characters, gameplay etc.

@mdboomer @Tychobrahi You'e telling me no company has employees/bosses like that? The point I'm trying to make is people just seem to go by what's been presented to them blindly in judging someone through the internet.

@Khasym @Tychobrahi

Look back in 2006, their pitch to SEGA must have been amazing for them to trust the franchise with Gearbox. To your point of giving it to someone else, they were not happy with the progress the studio was making due to shifted efforts and Timegate was helping them with the overall production. There were 5 other studios spread to handle different things and in light of the sales on the major consoles, SEGA decided to pull the plug on Wii U.

@Khasym @Tychobrahi Hang on, the licence first went to Obsidian with their RPG approach to the game and then got pulled for unknown reasons. Then Gearbox acquired the license in 2006 which was right around the time they were working on the first Borderlands game which would take them 2 years to release.

Since then, they've had 5 years to work on Aliens but they decided to shift focus and work on Borderlands 2 instead. Now their passion and vision was so blinding that they wanted to make a true sequel to Aliens in hopes of washing away the end result of Aliens 3 which also has its history of behind the scenes politics. Now because it was a direct sequel they had to find Michael Beihn and the delays were due to his scheduling conflicts. Now the end result of his character's presence was itself not needed so that delay was their own fault and not to mention flawed in its approach.

Timegate took over only because Gearbox was all pistons fired for Borderlands 2. So handling both the SP and MP duties as a much inexperienced developer and a smaller team.

And you and I know both know the difference between promised potential and the end product from the vertical slice shown during the alpha of the game so yeah I'd go as to saying Gearbox took the potential of what could be done with the franchise and gave us a bland uninspiring FPS which was broken through gameplay, story and graphics, all because "Hey Borderlands is a hit y'all! Let's make a sequel and get more money.

At the end of the day, it should be about the games. Instead people are holding onto some misconceptions of the person because of misleading articles and general online hatred because that's what the internet does best.

They'll need an investor(s) to back em.

Why is everyone hating on Dyack? What is his crime again? Oh yeah Too Human wasn't the second coming of Jesus Christ and he made a bad licensed game. Like that never happened to anybody before. Look at Gearbox and Colonial Marines. They destroyed the franchise killing any hope left in finding a pulse for it. Now they walk around with their heads held high for making one game that has brought them all the success and they plan on milking it instead of finding new creative endeavors. Shame...

I for one have always been a fan of their Eternal Darkness and Legacy Of Kain games and I feel like after weeding all the bad apples and issues of their past, Precursor is simply doing it for the love of making games.
