@Evil_Sidekick Gaikai does not require the user to own the hardware. It will be completely service based. Sony is moving in this direction because it is too difficult to release new hardware. Also, this new approach would allow them to seamlessly upgrade the hardware on their end so that the end experience is more like pc with hardware that is always evolving.

@Proftally If you actually understood what it would take to implement backwards compatibility, you would see why they chose not to include it...

@abHS4L88 @Geminon Sony has come out to say that they are making serious cuts in several divisions, but gaming wasn't one of them. They said that they were actually going to put more emphasis into that area in fact.

I think it is completely ridiculous to blame children's violence on video games. Bad things happen and the media is always there preaching about how the perpetrator played video game X. I would be surprised if they didn't! Almost every young person plays video games at some point in their lives these days. It's like saying kids shouldn't be allowed to play with toys because that one guy who shot a bunch of people at his high school played with toys when he was little and it probably led to his violent acts. Ridiculous. There are just some weird people in this world that are going to do insane, violent things without any kind of warning. Unfortunately there is NOTHING we can do to prevent it. I'm a dad and I recognize that there is absolutely no way to keep my son from seeing violent things and acting violently. It's in our nature. Just watch a 2-year-old play with their toys. All they want to do is crash their trucks and create disorder around them. All we can do as parents and as a people is try to teach our young that there are appropriate and inappropriate outlets and times for them to behave certain ways and hope that the lesson sticks.
