Xbox Live service restored

[UPDATE] Microsoft confirms all systems have now been restored.

[UPDATE] Microsoft issued a statement on the outage to GameSpot, explaining "networking changes" resulted in a connectivity error, which has since been fixed.

"At 10:50 a.m. PDT today, the Xbox Live Services team was making some networking changes that resulted in a connectivity error for all users in accessing Xbox Live and Xbox.com. Our engineering teams quickly reversed the change and all systems are restored," Microsoft said.

The original story is below.

Xbox Live and Xbox.com are currently offline, though it is unclear why.

"We have run into an issue with the Xbox Live service, and are currently investigating. Stay tuned for status updates," the official Xbox support Twitter account wrote minutes ago.

At press time, a Microsoft representative could not be reached for comment.

The official Xbox Live Status Page currently states that users may experience difficulties signing into Xbox Live and other general Xbox Live connectivity issues affecting both the Xbox 360 and Xbox.com

"Uh oh! You tried to sign in to Xbox Live and it didn't work? We have our top engineers working on this. Please check back for an update in 30 minutes," the company said.

Ps4 sometimes is worse than this. Sony do not understand online game tech just yet.

This problem is a peanut comparing to online game of Sony.

I'm just here because I'm too lazy to post on IGN and gamespot hasn't posted it yet.  But PSN will be down for 6 hours tomorrow.  ENJOY!

And why did they think making you check in was ever going to be a good ideal?

thats funny, a few days ago all xbots complains about the Microshit policies for Xbone, if this had happend back then, they scream and yell how Microshit is going to hell, but now with the bone they throw to their fanbase all xbots are defending their master. As I said, funny.

Ohhh so the real reason to stepback Xbone DRM and 24/7 check in is that error and MS didint announce policy change in favor of customer but due to an error of its XBL service.

Hahaha, it's a good thing they decided not to go always online, otherwise there would've been a shitstorm about how this could happen again.

Meanwhile, during the offline time, I bought a Wii U and I'm still not buying their bullshit device.

I wonder what the effects would be to a "network change" when millions of X1 gamers are connected and always on-line???

I wasn't even aware it went out...my 360 has been sitting below my ps3 collecting dust for about a month now, maybe longer lol.

@Tigerbite2

Yeah.  Maintenance is a bitch.  Having a company fix shit so that it doesn't end up breaking completely is always a pain.

@zintarr

yeah, because this happens all the time with XBL...

sometimes my cable internet goes out, does this mean I should complain about it needing to always be on?

@MatrixGamer78

A standard gaming PC rig costs more than an XBox 360 and PS3 combined. Your math sucks.

@jcouch2020 I agree. But what does that have to do with Xbox Live being down? (Other than, I suppose, the vocal minority that use the service whose only viable insult seems to be an attack on their opponent's sexuality.)

@jcouch2020 Really? You are that blind and flat out dumb? It's not "fanboys" saying this, it's several people in the industry that say it's significantly more powerful. Plus, MS kept going on and on about cloud computing. Well, guess that is gone. Can't make everyone be online now, so how are they going to use the magic cloud now? Buy what you want and be in denial, just stop be ignorant.

@Whiskey3romeo

Aww nice jab...bet you weren't too busy noticing when Lulzsec was hacking your PSN...XBL was never hacked...so suck it.

@helldragonzer No one said that. Besides, it went down for 5 minutes. PSN went down for months.

I'd rather have LIVE go down than to have my personal information get hacked on PSN

@Rajiv_psn As a PS+ member, I'm used to PSN going down every few weeks so the 30 minutes a year that Live goes down isn't that big a deal to me.

@Gravity_Slave

You are wrong - a high end rig might cost that much, but a "standard" gaming PC, does not.  Your math sucks.

It will still be using cloud computing.  Obvious that you don't know a freakin' thing about technology beyond your little game controller.
Use of cloud computing will allow for a superior online experience as Xbox users will be using dedicated servers now for multi-player.

@jcouch2020you are delusional if you think for 1 minute that your information in the xbox hasn't been taken they just dont tell you about it

Live went down while many people were at work at it was a very slow time for the servers. I know the policy has changed but imagine if it had not. How can MS try to push something on a gamer when outages like this are a possibility. Servers go down all the time, lets ask other big companies that also rely on the cloud... Amazon, Netflix

senjutsu
senjutsu

@grognard @Rajiv_psn Well since you pay each month, it should work anytime I suppose. Since the PSN will be a paid thing too on PS4, I suppose it'll be more stable too (even if I love it like it is, I would prefer no changes at all and no paid subscription).

iempire68
iempire68

@LoneCrowe @iempire68 @jcouch2020 Oh really? So for anyone and everyone that plays offline, how exactly is that going to work? When the online requirement was in place, they could count on 100 percent of gamers having access to online and developers could count on using it. THe XB1 is after all less powerful than the PS4. So how can a developer access the power if the magic cloud for all? They can't. So it will not be used as planned and you can bet MS is upset. THe cloud will be used instead as servers for online playing, not graphical computing. Educate yourself.

@96augment @jcouch2020 Yup, I've had PSN day one, never had a problem. HAd XB Live too. No problems there either. Stop making up issues

@akiwak If it hadn't there would be a once every 24 hour check. Chances are most people wouldn't have had their check scheduled for during the outage, it would have hit very few people for a small amount of time. Far less than say, the PS3 outage...

@senjutsu @grognard @Rajiv_psn

Did your cable ever go out? How about your electric? I mean, you pay for it every month, so it should work anytime, right?

Sometimes shit just happens...
