@Phrosnite SpartanXi 20 most played heroes: 1 support (at 19) and 1 semi support (at 9)... and 16 carries. You may have a point.

@Fappey Lol is probably a bit easier to pick up because of simpler mechanics (lack of denys, juking, etc) but that also takes a lot away at higher levels because how well you execute a difficult mechanic makes the difference between players in a lot of dota games.

@EcksTheory @unaminous an 8 wouldn't be a bad score if there weren't alot of 9s and 10s on gamespot that are far worse that TLoU.

@SerOlmy Yea, had to wade through plenty of trolls when i joined but once i got to the higher ranked games, the amount of trolls have decreased quite a bit. Just proves that most of the people yelling about noobs are bad players them self.

@thequickshooter @The-Turbulence If they charged $30 upfront everyone would get maybe 2 standard sets per hero, and they wouldn't make anymore items because they wouldn't make any more money off of them.

Everyone having access to the exact same items also defeats the point of customization as well. So that would be a terrible model for a online game with customization.

The gameplay in dota doesn't change the slightest bit when you pay so, it cost you $0 to play the game and you get a few random items along the way. I don't see how that's a scam?

They're giving you a free game with no restrictions. Stop complaining about it and If you don't like it don't play it.

@MasterTheHero While There's always comments simply because its a "sexism in games" article. A lot of the negative comments is because the actual content of the article is incredibly stupid. The majority of the argument seems to be that she didn't like the story simply because it had a male lead. And little to do with how the support characters (Sarah and Tess) are actually used in the context of the story.

If you tell a story through the eyes of a character, about that character. The supporting cast is there define the main characters. The last of us is about the story of Ellie and Joel told through the eyes of Joel (for the most part). Of course the supporting cast is going to be there to advance their character. The gender of any of character doesn't matter in the slightest.

I didn't see anyone complain about this "issue" after Tomb Raider when most of the male characters entire purpose was to develop Lara's character, because that how almost every single survival story goes.

And if you are going to start calling games sexist there are a million and one more deserving targets than The Last of Us, which handled things pretty damn well.

Wow, that is some terrible paraphrasing there. They didn't say it would be "absurd to keep the service free". They said it was absurd to lower the quality of the product to keep it free.

huge difference.

"...a 'deranged gamer' who sought out the elementary school so as to 'outscore' past mass murderers. It was also reported that he killed himself during the attack so that he would not give away these 'points.'"

Considering the 'violent' games they are trying to ban, that entire paragraph reads like it was written by some one who's only ever seen someone play a video game once sometime in the 90's.

Wanting to be better than other people isn't a trait that only gamers have. Most of the people who try to achieve ridiculous world records and ''outscore" their predecessors aren't doing it because they saw it in a game.

And that last sentence was so stupid it hurt my brain and i'm still struggling to try and understand it.

@NetGod No, the politicians actually watch movies / tv and read books (well some of them). Banning those would actually affect their lives.
