The story is as good as if not better than most recent movies. But having the interactivity, of being able to make decisions and play as the characters (even when it leads to failure) means you can get more immersed and emotionally involved in the game than is possible for any movie. A movie lets you watch a great story, but games like this let you live and breath a great story.
Between Beyond, The Last of Us and Bioshock, we're really seeing how good an interactive story can be.
Couple weeks ago at a digital expo i was at a talk by one of TLOU level designers. Seems like their biggest limitation was the 512mb ram on a ps3, and what they did with that was quite impressive. I'd be interesting to see what they can do with 8gb on the ps4.
@danabo @ThKng The number of game studios that microsoft has isn't going to make anyone buy an xbox if they dont produce good games for it. Microsoft may well end up with more exclusives but from the current announcements they definitely don't have better exclusives.
Excluding multiplatform games and games where there's an equivalent on the other system (e.g. Forza and GT6), the only half decent exclusive announced for xbox1 is Titan-Fall and that's coming to PC as well. PS4 on the other hand has Killzone, Infamous and whatever games naughty-dog and quantic-dream come up with.
For the games currently announced, saying "clearly Xbox One has the best games" is a blatant lie.
Its quite sad that someone like me who's played games all his life and has never held a gun is considered more dangerous than a gun owner who never played games.
Played through dark souls many times now, and all but the first run through was offline cause the PVP was terrible (between being matched up against people with higher levels / better equipment and the significant lag / delay). The blood messages and shadows were a great touch for the online play so hopefully they'll give and option to play the game online without the constant interruptions from invaders.
@santinegrete @ruisan101 @megakick I'd say a larger percentage of the people watching esports tournaments actually play the game than any outdoor sport.
@Dudeinator a while back i started seeing a decrease in the number of people yelling about bad teams, noobs, etc. etc. and i hadn't seen much of a difference in my stats, or my win / loss ratio. I figured out later on that i had actually moved up to harder ranked games around that time. Just goes to show that the loudest person is also likely the worst player and just want to blame someone else.
