I'm sceptical how well Wii U will do. Might be good for newbies, but I have absolutely no interest in the system. That partly comes from how disappointed I've been with the Wii compared to older systems; most of the games suck and can't keep my interest for more than a few months, excluding the GC original Twilight Princess.
It is so frustrating to me how they aren't even carrying the last generation of Nintendo! Except for Twilight Princess (which is really a GameCube game), I don't have as much interest in any Wii game as I do for my GameCube and PS2 games. That carries over to DS as well; my favorites there are just updated ports like the Four Swords Adventures that couldn't be played by a single player before. This is so stupid the only reason I would feel sad about GameStop closing is the managers and employees of three of the four local stores are very good.
This is the first Nintendo system I've felt unsure about getting. The Wii controller feels fairly natural, and my older mother really enjoys the casual games (first time she's ever played electronic games). However, I feel a bit unsure of the controller. It could be a bit hard to keep looking up at the TV and then down at the controller if things are active on both screens, and if the controller screen is passive it isn't much different from going to the menu screen. This is the only Nintendo system since I started gaming that I am not sure about bothering to buy.
I can understand someone not liking Twilight Princess, but one of the things I feel it did much better is there are a ton of people/creatures you can talk to and do quests for. How can the human race be surviving in this airborne world with such a low population and fertility rate?
I actually have the collectors edition guide, but have issues with that as well. There are some things that have been written about incorrectly and other stuff I've found in the dungeons that aren't mentioned. It's also frustrating how you can't just buy upgrades to equipment; there is a material that is required for a lot of upgrades, but with it's random appearance I only got the first one after the 5 dungeon and haven't gotten any more yet.
@TheZeroPercent I am going to go through it eventually to see the back story they are giving the series. The only thing that bothers me is this is the first time I've gotten bored and dropped a Zelda game before getting that far.
@Wolf-5 I just hope the world and gameplay of a new Zelda game doesn't suck as bad as Skyward Sword does compared to the rest of the 3D Zelda games I've played.
