Games I Own

This pretty much does what it says on the tin- it shows the games I personally own, but also shows what I rate the game along with a small comment about it too. Feel free to browse.

Game Release Date GameSpot Score Tq_nintynoe's Score

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit

A lazy port- the physics are unrealistic, and it brings nothing new to the table that the previous dozen NFS games haven't. 6/10.

--

Rayman Legends Challenges App

-- --

Xenoblade

A robust RPG. The story is compelling and immersive, and the world is well built and fantastically detailed. Unfortunately it's a very long game and combined with the repetitiveness of combat, quickly tires. 7/10.

--

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures

-- --

Batman: Arkham City

--

Assassin's Creed III

--

NES Remix

A great game in the style of WarioWare, replacing random mini games with challenges created for classic NES games instead. A great test of skills for retro gamers and newbies alike. Great fun, and cheap too! 8/10

--

Super Mario 3D World

Another fantastic Mario, which is the greatest Mario yet. Whilst there are a few minor issues to iron out, none of the detract from this fantastic game, which offers a fantastic experience in single or multiplayer. Perfect sound and music, perfect controls, perfect graphics, perfect length... PERFECT.

--

Balloon Fight

A simplistic game. It's fun, but only in short bursts. 7/10.

--

Tank! Tank! Tank!

--

Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles

Not as good as I'd hoped. When I bought this though, touchscreen mobile gaming was in it's infancy. Not bad though; 7/10.

-- --

Disney/Pixar Monsters, Inc.

A simple collect-athon with little else to do. 6/10

--
5

Godzilla the Series

A bit of a bland game, but it does what it sets out to do; 6/10

--
5

Call of Duty 3

What would have been a great game became soiled by the lack of multiplayer, lack of control otpions and horrendous slowdown in combat scenes in the PAL version. 5/10.

--
5

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Harry Potter's first game is a good'un, but very hard later on, which becomes off-putting; 6/10

--
6

Turok

A good game, but it lacks substance; 7/10

--
6

Grand Theft Auto 2

A good game destroyed by the lack of a save feature and a lack of sound effects pretty much everywhere when you're not shooting guns. Shame, it could have been much better. 6/10

--
6

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3

An alright game, but the time limits imposed make this a frustrating affair; 5/10

--
6

Asphalt 4: Elite Racing

Like Need for Speed, but without the pumped up soundtrack. Okay game, but nothing more, nothing less, 6/10

--
6.5

Star Wars Trilogy: Apprentice of the Force

A decent game, but a rushed one with a lot of odd design choices which don't do it any favours; 7/10

--
6.5

Super Mario Bros. 2

The hardest game in existence. Super Mario Bros was engrossing because it catered to all levels of skill, whereas this game kills all but the most hardened of players. Less than impressive because of the difficulty spike. 6/10.

6.5

Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood

A disappointing game. It's a simplistic RPG, but it fails to level you up and progress you as you go. Instead, you'll need to sit and repetitively fight the same enemies over and over. if you don't, you'll be forced to reset later when the enemies become too strong to face with no way of turning back. The soundtrack is also terrible, with awful chiptunes in place of actual music. 5/10

6.5

Guitar Rock Tour

No lyrics? MIDI style songs? What a let down. 5/10

--
6.5

Sonic Riders

An okay game with basic graphics, some annoying voices and stupid design choices. WHo thought that having a huge prompt on the screen blocking your view when turning would be a good idea? You're an idiot. 6/10.

--
6.5

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

A great game, but the graphics aren't too great, which was a major selling point of the other versions. 7/10.

6.5

Alex Kidd no Miracle World

There's a reason Sonic replaced this guy. Though Alex the Kidd is a nice Master System game, it's too far out in concept and too little fun in comparison to Mario. Fighting enemies with Rock, Paper, Scissors grows old after the first time, and it's pure luck whether you win or not. Games should not be based on luck, but skill. 6/10.

--
6.5

Super Mario USA

An alright game with a brilliant soundtrack. A bit of a black sheep in the Mario series. It's hard as nails too. 7/10.

6.5

Shadow the Hedgehog (Player's Choice)

A misunderstood title. Much like a teenager, this game can't quite make up it's mind what it wants to be. It lacks identity and has some flaws, but is still a good play-through; 7/10

--
6.8

Pokemon Trading Card Game

I never got the Trading Card Game rules, and I don't think they're any better explained here. It's a complicated affair compared to the actual games, and the battles last forever. Nothing particularly remarkable here; 6/10

--
7

GoldenEye 007

GE 007 is a decent package, but it has some disappointing flaws which keep it from acheiving its full potential. 8/10

7

LEGO Rock Raiders

A top-down strategic game whereby you have to traverse levels on foot or in a variety of cool vehicles looking for ore and building your base. The soundtrack is truly something special, and this game holds a special place in my heart. 7/10.

--
7

Tomb Raider: Underworld

7

Sonic and the Black Knight

Despite the effort from Sonic Team, this game falls flat due to the insane difficulty in some areas, and sometimes problematic controls. Not a bad game by any means, but nothing you'll want to play through again once you've finished it. 7/10

7

The Conduit

A decent game with nice fluid controls, a thoughtful story and cool weapons. It unfortunately suffers from a broken online multiplayer. You won't have a good time when all the online players choose the same map and explosive weapons... and then hack to win. 6/10.

7

T2: The Arcade Game

Despite looking, sounding and playing great, this game is totally let down by the fact that the 3rd level in is pretty much impossible to beat, even with rapid fire and two players. What were they thinking? Didn't they test this level at all!? 6/10.

--
7

Donkey Kong

A great game, and the best their was before Super Mario Bros came along. Simple and fun, the epitome of arcade gaming.

--
7

Link's Crossbow Training

A decent rail shooter with a Zelda theme. Nothing remarkable, but fun nonetheless: 7/10.

7

Sonic the Hedgehog Chaos

A decent Sonic game, but far too easy, and far too bland. Nothing remarkable. 10/10.

--
7

Sonic Unleashed

If only the Werehog stages weren't so bland, repetitive, full and lifeless, this would be a great game; 6/10.

7

Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII

Shooting Nazi's in planes has never been more fun, though the game is restricted due to the very content it offers; it can get repetitive, though the semi-realistic controls with the Wiimote and Nunchuck are refreshing. 7/10.

--
7

Pokemon Box: Ruby and Sapphire (GBA Link Cable Pack)

An interesting game which I got free with Pokémon Colosseum, with is less of an actual game and more of a file-organizer. What can I say? It does what it does and that's about it, though it is well presented and easy to use. 7/10

--
7

Sonic: Lost World

7 Sonic Lost World is a great game that's almost a classic but is instead mildly disabled by poor design decisions. 7/10.

7

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

The second installment is much better than the first, with decent graphics, well thought out puzzles and concepts, and some beautiful music in some parts; 7/10

--
7

Driver

Not as good as Driver 2. This game has really started to show it's age, and has difficult AI which seem to catch you no matter what. 6/10.

--
7

Classic NES Series: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

A great game, but a disgustingly difficult one. The music is fantastic though, and it epitomizes the NES era of gaming; 7/10

--
7

Chokkan Hitofude

A great puzzle game which lacks some charm, but is totally addictive; 8/10

--
7

Small Soldiers

A good game which follows the plot of the film closely, but why have the run and jump buttons the odd way around? 7/10

--
7

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter

A great game with tonnes to do. Makes you feel like you're Jango Fett, and seeing as how he's more or less a more advanced Boba Fett, that's a great thing; 8/10

--
7

Sega Smash Pack

A trio of MegaDrive titles that are all well emulated, but lack save features. GoldenAxe should have been two player too; 7/10

--
7

Triple Score: 3 Games in 1

A trio of decent MegaDrive games. Nothing fantastic, but good for starting out your MegaDrive collection; 7/10.

--
7

PictoChat

A fun application, which despite what the media say, is not used by pedophiles to coax your kiddies... unless they run around with a Nintendo DS in hand with this application open, in which case they would be about 10 feet from your child anyway, which is pretty obvious. This is a fun app, and comes installed on the DS. 7/10

--
7.5

Call of Duty 2: Big Red One

The second Call of Duty on home consoles has a hilarious name, but a decent campaign. The graphics are a nice step up from the previous game too. 7/10.

--
7.5

Call of Duty: Finest Hour

The first Call of Duty is nothing too special, but it's definitely better than the Medal of Honour titles released around the same time. 7/10.

--
7.5

Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike

This is a whole new game with more of the iconic space battles from the original Trilogy. It also has the entire previous game included as a 2-player mode. Awesome. 8/10.

--
7.5

Gekikame Ninja Den

Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles punishes you whether you're good at it or not. Like an abusive relationship, you keep trying to make it work. Perhaps you stay with TMNT because you see glimpses of hope and recon that one day it might work out? At least it has good taste in music. 6/10.

7.5

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

A good game. Nice controls, a fun multiplayer, and decent single player. Shame the graphics weren't better. 7/10

7.5

Wrecking Crew

Mario used to do a lot of work, with demolition being one of them. If you liked Donkey Kong, you'll like this. There's not much to it though, and it quickly becomes tiresome. 7/10.

7.5

The Lost World: Jurassic Park

A good game with some dark gameplay elements. It's fun to play, but once you've beaten it there's not really anything else to do; 7/10

--
7.5

The Super Shinobi

A difficult game even on easy mode. Object and enemy placement is just too unfair for this game to be too much fun, though the earlier levels are great. 7/10.

--
7.5

OutRun

An overrated game. Rad Racer on the NES had catchier tunes and controlled better. 6/10.

--
7.5

Pokemon Colosseum

A good game, but it's very linear and unlike the pocket games, lacks any real sidequests. Still, it's fun and the double battles add some interesting twists; 7/10

--
7.5

Medal of Honor Heroes 2

Though the controls are a little stiff it plays well and the button layout is well thought out. The single player is a blast and it also has an additional on-rails arcade mode which is pretty cool. Unfortunately the multiplayer was unbalanced and enemies often took rounds of ammo before they'd die. This was the last conventional Medal of Honour on home consoles before the reboot, and was worthy of being the final call before the reboot. 7/10.

8

Ridge Racer Accelerated

A great arcade racer on the iPod/iPhone. Decent controls and simplistic but clean graphics, and a customizable soundtrack; 7/10

--
8

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I

Not quite the Sonic 4 we were all hoping for, but an alright effort. A great game scarred by an overall lack of attention, causing the game to have silly issues that shouldn't exist. 8/10

8

Conduit 2

Better than the first, but the controls are less customizable. The online is at least fairer to play, and the graphics and combat system have had an overhaul. 8/10.

8

Call of Duty: World at War

Another good DS shoot 'em up, though the controls are still a little blocky. 8/10

8

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I

Not quite the Sonic 4 we were all hoping for, but an alright effort. A great game scarred by an overall lack of attention, causing the game to have silly issues that shouldn't exist. This version also has some slight changes, including an entirely different Casino Act. 8/10

8

Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut

Anexcellent game marred by object clipping problems and an outdated camera. Still fun as hell though; 7/10

--
8

Sonic 3D Blast

Isometric gameplay works, and Sonic 3D Blast proves this. It's a bit long though, and is more repetitive than previous entries to the nature of the game. Having to collect Flickies and keep them safe is hard work. Luckily, the soundtrack eases the pain, and it's easily the best Sonic soundtrack ever; 7/10.

--
8

Famicom Mini: Zelda no Densetsu

Great game, but hasn't stood the test of time as well as Mario. It's quite repetitive and cryptic. The sequels from the SNES onward are far better- 8/10

--
8

Tomb Raider: Anniversary

The original was good, and this is better. Shame it doesn't lend you a hand sometimes, as it ca be pretty difficult to figure out what you're doing later on, which isn't fun when you're staring at dark blank tomb walls for hours on end; 8/10

8

Disney DuckTales: Remastered

As good as the original NES version with added longevity and additional features. It has stunning artwork and tight controls. 8/10.

8

Call of Duty: Ghosts

Another great game from the Call of Duty series. However, whilst it adds a slew of new content such as the guard dog killstreak, extra weapon classes, a squad mode, enhanced sniping view and larger, more destructive maps, it fails due to the fact that existing issues such as host-lag and 'quick scoping' aren't rectified, and new issues such as eve more terrible spawning during multiplayer arrive as additions to the existing problems. 8/10

8

Super Mario Sunshine

This is much harder than Super Mario 64, and it lacks variation in some of the levels, but the FLUDD pack is an interesting twists which opens up tonnes of possibilities and adds much to the gameplay. 8/10

--
8

Ridge Racer DS

Decent graphics and a good multiplayer which doesn't require others to own the game. it's a good game, but at later stages the handling of the cars becomes extremely difficult, and the last few races become absurd tests of patience and memorization, rather than pure skill. It took me well over 5 years to win the last few races, and haven't even gotten close to finishing the last one-on-one car race, which I suppose I'll never do. I find solace in the fact that I don't think anyone else ever has or will either, though; 7/10.

--
8

From Russia With Love

Not as good as Everything or Nothing, and the driving sections feel a bit tight on the Gamecube, but it's a good game with a fun head-to-head multiplayer. 8/10

--
8

Game Boy Camera

A fun little gadget with a lot of possibilities, especially if you have the printer to go with it. Some fun mini games and other features come installed on this; it's fun to play a shooter and end up blatting your own face. 7/10

--
8

Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter

The game has aged since it arrived on the PC back in the early 2000's, but on the iPod/iPhone it's still enjoyable. There's not much to it other than shooting dinosaurs and running around. It really shows it's age, and part of the fun is provoking the AI creatures and seeing how close you can get before they can munch you to death. Sometimes they'll even work their way up mountains to get you. 7/10.

--
8

Michael Jackson's Moonwalker

A difficult and repetitive game, but with catchy music, decent graphics and hilarious platforming. 7/10.

--
8

Metroid Prime: Hunters

Not quite Metroid Prime in your palm, as it it easy to lose your way and find yourself stuck. Stylus controls also cramp your hands, so it's a shame they didn't add another control method like the ones they toyed with in the First Hunt demo. Negatives aside, this is a solid game with a nice multiplayer; 7/10.

--
8

Future Cop: L.A.P.D.

This game didn't sell very well in 1998, with only 200,000 copies shifting on the initial run, not including the re-release on the PlayStation Store. This proves that people don't always buy the right thing. This game was fantastic for it's time, and still holds up well today. It offers a unique experience which I don't think has been used much since, combining arcade-style shooting with some clever RTS-style tactics. The voice acting is brilliant, the controls well arranged, and the 2P mode kicks ass! Even if you're not in to playing through the story mode, you can spend hours lost in Precinct Assault, a game mode whereby you and an AI or another player battle to control turrets and mini-bases across various maps, gaining points to build assault tanks or defense helicopters to take the other player down.

--
8

Super Smash Bros. Melee

A bit of an overrated brawler, but it's got tonnes to offer and is a solid title with al your favourite characters; 8/10

--
8

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Better controls and graphics than the previous entries, and has a tonne of extra killstreaks and features too. Unfortunately, it suffers because the game streams from the disc, which can lead to game freezes and a faster wearing of the Wii's internal optical lens. It also lacks DLC which is necessary for the Zombies mode. Other than that, this is a decent port. 8/10.

8.5

Sonic Colours

The best Sonic game on the Wii, full stop. The only thing that lets this game down is the zoomed out camera which makes the action difficult to see on some of the 2D platforming sections. 8/10.

8.5

Call of Duty: Black Ops

With the addition of Zombies mode and a robust online, this is one of the best shooters on the DS. It has it's flaws, and the controls are still stiff when walking, but it's utterly playable and has the essence of the home console versions at it's core; 8/10.

8.5

Super Metroid

A difficult game, but gives you tonnes of hours of exploration and shooting things. It makes you feel clever for figuring it out yourself. 8/10.

8.5

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition

As a standalone game, Four Swords is still fun, though it's better with friends. Luckily, this version allows wireless play between 4 friends too. 8/10.

--
8.5

Call of Duty: Black Ops II

More of the same Call of Duty, but now with weapons conceptualized for the future. It's definitely a step in in most ways from the previous games, and offers the same frantic online as always. Shame though that it released with tonnes of bugs that had to be patched. Oh, and they still haven't gotten rid of quickscoping. When will they learn, eh? 8/10.

--
8.5

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing

A port of the home console game to the iPod/iPhone. It's let down by some touchy controls. Great stuff! 8/10.

8.5

Golden Axe Warrior

Technically superior to Zelda I and II and with a save file. Unfortunately, it lacks the charm that Zelda has. Maybe it's the serious tone of some of the characters, or the annoying opening title music. On the flip side, this is the best Action-Adventure game the Master System has to offer, and it does a grand job, especially if you didn't own a NES back in the day. 8/10.

--
8.5

R-Type

It's a marvel how they got this to run on the Master System whilst having it look so good. It does suffer a bit in that the sprites flicker when there's a lot of action, but it's still fun to play and the controls are tight and responsive. 8/10.

8.5

Command & Conquer

Not the best, but the original. It still holds up well despite it looking dated, and it's amazing to see how little the newer games have actually deviated from this excellent game. Shame though that it doesn't have a skirmish mode. 8/10.

--
8.5

Jurassic Park: Rampage Edition

A faster version of the original on the MegaDrive. This game is downright crazy, but much fairer in difficulty than it's predecessor. The final level is notable for being pretty crazy. A really cool game. 8/10.

--
8.5

Battlefield 3

8.5

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs

A fantastic title which cleverly uses the bundled headset to command your AI team. Really makes you feel like you're part of a SEAL squad, though the later levels become increasing difficult, with one near impossible to pass. Mr Pickle, you can get yourself out of prison; 8/10

--
8.5

Command & Conquer

The original Command & Conquer isn't as good as Red Alert or some of the other later sequels, but it's still a blast to play. Whilst the downsides to the game is that there's no skirmish mode and that some of the later stages become unfairly difficult and rely heavily on repeat-trial and error which can take hours or days, It controls well, the music is awesome and the whole thing is very well presented. I'd never seen or heard of a game coming with two discs before this, especially when each disc allowed you to take control of a particular faction in the games universe. Want to be a bad-ass? Be NOD. Wanna save the world? Be GDI. The choice is yours.

--
8.5

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing

This game actually handles more like Mario Kart Double Dash than Mario Kart Wii does, and is a lot cooler too. Unfortunately the online has always been more or less dead, and the framerate dips sometimes; 8/10.

8.5

Wii Sports

The only sports game I'd play- a real awesome game which at the time of release, brought gamers and family together in the living room, including my own; 9/10.

--
8.5

Art Style: PiCOPiCT

A funky puzzle game with a lot of retro charm. Addictive as hell too. If you love Tetris, you'll love this. 8/10

8.5

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

Playing two player co-op is awesome. This offers a frsh twist to the basic formula which really works. 9/10. It's hard as nails in the later Grand Prix modes though, which does get quite frustrating.
