@iloveyourface I understand he is talking about the architecture, but how is that ahead of the highest-end gaming PC? What exactly is being put into these consoles which cannot already be put into a PC today?
@puukusa where does this comparison come from? He didn't mention general purpose PC, he mentioned highest-end gaming PC. Regardless, tuning for a particular platform means squat when that platform is inferior to the infinite potential of PC hardware (see below for an education).
People here need to stop talking out of their cracks about stuff they don't understand because they feel threatened at how behind console hardware really is. We wouldn't be having these silly discussions if moronic execs didn't make ludicrous statements like this.
The bottom line: PC is and will always be ahead of consoles in almost every single respect (variety of games being a con). A console IS a PC (you can even browse the web now on consoles), it is just packaged for a particular market (affordable for parents) and contains STATIC hardware that cannot be upgraded.
You know what is next? An actual PC where the hardware can be upgraded which is packaged as a console (I suspect a new term will be coined to sell them). We've already seen the coming of this by way of upgradeable hard drives for the 360.
How come every other article covering this story specifically uses the wording 'perfect' gaming pc, and not 'best'?? Me thinks GS are trying to engage readers and start an intentional flame war. Grow up boys.
@franizarduy What you don't realise is that we'll see a drastic move away from console gaming in the future when hardware becomes much cheaper. We already have hybrid console/pcs/media centers, and micro pc's being developed and packaged as consoles, but allowing access to pc/console market. There will be a merge of platforms, and we'll all eventually be on the pc in one way or another, or being ridden by corporate slags like EA.

I'm not that impressed after seeing the tech demo for the slicing technology being used. Instead of silly combos like most hack and slash games, why not make the sword play more real, and put that slicing technology to good use.
If every swipe you took physically affected the enemies it would be so much better. Maybe there will be a hardcore mode, and the same one-hit-slice will apply to yourself :)
