Explain like I'm 5....

Upon playing one of my favorite games (SSB for Wii U), I realized the lag in 70% of most battles (unless I'm 1 on 1) is absolutely atrocious considering it's 2015. I had better internet on Halo 2, a game released almost 12 years ago.

Mario Kart 8 got it right.... At least for me, a lack of online options and terrible lag absolutely kill replay value for magnificent games like smash bros. Is there actual data backing up this finding, or is this devs cutting corners?

EDIT: I pay very good $ for top notch internet as I game frequently, if I host rooms, the lag is very rare unless it's stormy in my area :)

Hello all,

Happy New Years to everyone. So, I've been one of those "Dave Ramsey" guys who never looked at getting a credit card. I recently found out someone was using my info for a mortgage loan in a different state, so once I got that fixed on my report I began to take my credit seriously.

Prior to purchasing a new vehicle in 2014, I had nothing on my credit report. I recently purchased a new car and plan on paying it off by this time next year (approx $13K left on balance). I have paid the first payment prior to the due date and plan on paying more than triple the monthly charges against the principal to get this done.

So, my question is (with what I said above), what is a solid credit card to apply for to continue building my score? I LOVE traveling and am planning on going on quite a few trips in 2015. I've been looking at HSBC cards and the Chase traveler cards. Do I have a shot at getting approved, or should I start with a pre-paid credit card from the bank? All suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I'll go first. When I was a senior in college a few years ago, I interned for a Fortune 500 Oil and Gas company. Going into this job, I was a little naïve and often blamed large oil and gas companies for many of America's resource problems. Though I'm not ruling out that a lot of corporate leaders aren't greedy, I did learn the following that most wouldn't know unless they worked in the oil and gas industry:

Per every gallon spent at the pump, the government takes approximately 70% of what you pay for regulations, laws, etc. Next, after paying for the cost of refining and transporting product, America's largest gasoline providers make on average anywhere from 7 - 10 cents per gallon in profit.

This is why gas stations sell cigarettes, foods, etc. The profit margin on a pack of smokes and a 6 pack of beer is sometimes 5-10x more profitable than a few gallons of gas.

Needless to say, a lot of my liberal perspective in regards to oil and gas changed after my internship upon seeing how much we forked over to the govt every month :p

Evidently they are covering the following games.  NOW, this is from NeoGaf where a LOT doesn't come true, so don't beleive it until E3 :p  If this happened, I would continue my many thousands of dollars spent on the 360 and purchase the xbox one with a few games at launch :)  I can't wait to see what Sony will have too!  Agh, my wallet is in pain

flip it. that way if you can't get work doing stuff you like, you have a backupcomp_atkins

True, though I would just do a double major.  Minors really don't get jobs in my field, but they're neat to have!

"Major in something that will bring in the money, minor in something that you love."

I've been out of school for a while now, and though I went for a high demand degree, I love what I do. That being said, I heard this statement over lunch with a friend of mine and couldn't help but think how true it was.

BY NO MEANS am I saying a college degree of any kind is fruitless. But since starting my career, I know a LOT of friends who still are paying off student loans and can't find work in their fields. I've been blessed with a great living, but I can't help but feel some college degrees cheat out a lot of people in the real world.

As someone who has worked for a fortune 500 company and recruits for one of the world's largest firms in my city, I would say mentioning the word, "MANAGER" (even if it is an assistant position) on your resume' will pay off more in the long run. If you can move up to mgmt, then you're resume' is set for some serious recruiting action :) Also, if you go back to school and get a good degree (and I'm not downplaying a lot of degrees, but the best advice I received was major in something with high job potential that you like and minor in something you love), then you will be even more marketable.

Now, as someone who also worked retail jobs throughout college, you always think other industries will be better. Well, though I absolutely love what I do, I still deal with people (both nice and very standoffish) on a daily basis :) In other words, the grass ain't always greener in terms of customers (and corporate employees) on the other side.

Now that being said, from a business standpoint I feel that would be the best route. For personal reasons, you need to do what will make YOU happy :)
