Wars between systems or any ideas I think bring out the worst in people. I think it was always there. We may be in a generation where content is being exposed to a whole new line of stupid people. Previous system wars I feel like that video wasn't as prominent as it was today. A lot of stupid people don't like to read. Why not when you can just watch a video. The generation of smartphones and devices that are supposed to give us immediate gratification are making people become impatient. Nobody is taking time to think. This leads to impulsive comments too. Technology is spreading to a wider audience of uneducated nerf herders. Society needs to stop and think, or else we are pretty much going to turn out like everyone from the movie Idiocracy.

With that logic you could say that it's OK to beat your wife because it is "cathartic." Sorry, but it's thought processes like that which motivate people to bring out the worst in them and create tension for their fellow man. Sure, release your hate to make you feel better and put it on someone else. That is just plain wrong.
I doubt you contribute to it being as bad as it is. People are equally as crazy on IGN without such a show. They may even be worse. My point is that the internet is filled with assholes as is the world.
Suddenly, when they are behind a keyboard and not face to face, people feel they can say anything because they don't have to deal with the repercussions of an immediate face to face response.
It's sad, because it shows still how flawed people are deep inside and the feelings that they truly are harboring. While many may be children, there are many adults who are just as bad. Look on any political site where a heated debate may be between red and blue. It becomes just as bad.
The internet is filled with immoral cowards that hide behind a screen and they are people, as aforementioned, who are flawed very deeply. There is very little that you can do to change or influence the internet one way or another. There is a big chunk of society that is not properly raised with common sense and some sense of how to distinguish right from wrong.
It's not your fault, it's everyone else's. A lot of people everywhere have a long way to go. Otherwise, maybe we'd have peace on earth, or perhaps even within our own country ...
