What kind of TV makers make a hdTV with out component imputs? that is the standard cheepist input.

Only thing cheeper and more standard is S-video and lower. all of my HDtv have at least 3 of them. If it dont have those then it is a wannabe HDTV.

EVEN my old Tv's Square box tvs from 1997 had that and they was not HDTV's.

Half life 2 is beyond old and did not even push the source engine like new games do.

call of duty is a dinosuar and is quake 3 1999 era engine that Id software decided to give away the source code recently like doom since they will never use it again.

Quake 4 is the ever dying doom 3 engine that is on it's way out With games powered by unreal engine 3 and more advanced engines and even ID is getting ready to put it out.

Only medium and high ? And i am gussing that was at low res with low AA and no AF and no extras like 16xaf and 6xaa

Like i said poor performance and it would look even worse on a large monitor.

I remember when Nvidacalled6600gt the doom 3 cheep card or something a few years ago when doom 3was bigand had doom 3 on the heat sinks but I would not want to play the game on the thing,

Ughh,,,,, Don't do either and get a radeon x1950 pro agp or x850xt pe AGP or 7900gs.. anything, for you..

It dont matter really since Both are not able to do much in new games and there performace in old games was poor.

But you do not want the x1050 I did not know ATI even made anything worse than an X1300 pro.

Not that long Clock speed is two low on those early dual cores my intel quad core runs at 3.4 ghz and dual cores have not been out that long.

Even the xbox 360 is at the 3ghz mark and has a triple core Though I wont get into CPU types and how clock speed can be meaning less.

You will only see a performance gain on games that run multiple threads of code other wise clock speed is king and a older single core pentuim 4 at a high clock speed can kill those things when running a single thread game.

Skip dual core all togeather and Get a quad core that has a high clock speed and over clock the thing if you want something that last.

Over clocking most of intel quad cores is not that hard since they are obviously just getting started on the line and left room on the design to run at faster speeds, but if you do it wrong you risk killing your CPU to early.

ha ha that error means your card spit out a refresh rate your monitor does not support and obviously you did not lock the refresh rate to only a mode your monitor supports.

The 59.9 is most likey the monitor firmeware telling you it either supports only 60hz or you have went over to like 120hz and it is telling you to drop to 60hz. and if it really is 59.9hz or lowerthen get a new monitor because that thing must be older a grandma if it cant support higher or lower than 60hz.

No DX 10 cannot use any direct x 9 code.

direct 3d 10api and operation is totaly new,

Vistakeeps all direct x 10 and any older direct x code sepratefor both drivers and kernels and the legecydirect 3d 9 API for window vista must be installed on the machine so all direct 3d 9on window xp can be emulated.

direct 3d9 api must be installed for all windows vista direct x 9 .

Don't buya GPU if you dont know how to use them.

Well your aunt is clueless and besides the point of games.

With out  A GPU even Windows XP runs slow you might as well just keep Your OLD PC and save money. since The CPu is doing all the GPu's work rendering the 2d windows slowing it down when it can be doing other stuff for you.

And with out a GPu you have NO hope of running windows VISTA that may come with the machine unless you use the crippled Mode known As the 2d mode that will still run slow since THE cpu using it's CPu sycles to do the GPU's work to render all those little 2d windows.

Not only should you have a GPU you should have a sound processing unit like the Sound blaster Xi-fi series.

In fact bring your aunt over here so she can read me telling her how much she is shooting her self in the foot and not to bother buying a PC if  she is not using a GPU of some kind then do not bother buying a PC. It's like buying a car with out tires so it can drive on it's metal rims and go half the speed.

Do not buy a dell, At least eve the cheep alienware machines come with a decent GPU or they would not be an alienware machine and they are one of the few I would let build a PC fore me If i did not make my own PC's now.
