Given the scope of the game and the amount of people who were playing it, I think they nailed the launch. They even had the courtesy to forewarn us of issues and let us know that they were anticipated. I was immensely enjoying myself within 48 of being given access.

Maybe the reason Pincus can't find a game that interests him any more is because his tastes have risen from the gutter, but he is still looking for his meal in the gutter.

The attention to detail in this game is incredible.

After reading this review, playing through the game and then reflecting upon this review, I also I agree that this score is not accurate. I have solely visited Gamespot for my gaming news for years, and as a direct result of this review, I now frequent IGN as well.

The reviewers have to score how they feel, but given how many people use this website as a reference to what games they should buy as well as to which games they spend their valuable time on, more care needs to be taken that a review accurately reflects the amount of enjoyment someone will get out of a game.

You can argue semantics like it is still a positive review, but in essence, the review and score just doesn't feel right so I lost a bit of trust for Gamespot, which affected my loyalty, which affected where I go to for my gaming news.

I don't plan on playing this game but I thought we introduced the new rating system so this bullshit wouldn't happen any more... the codgers who decide this stuff but don't even play games themselves need to retire already.

Read the comments while the video loaded and when I saw the interviewer I loled. He was just as bad in the Stick of Truth video. Way to go Total War though. Looks like it has some great improvements. Love the level of detail on the campaign map and the way cities develop.

Already well aware of this one, but it is good that Gamespot is covering it now so close to the start of the KS campaign. It is good to see some of the substance coming back into games and it is good to see the gaming media supporting it.

@msfan1289 I think more importantly, the industry would benefit in the long run if devs did not hire staff with the mindset of letting them go when the project is finished.Contractors or not - as I imagine both are used.

@Gamelander

I like your perspective! One day historians will look back on this time and share their thoughts, directly to the minds of others, so that they may ponder the evolution leading up to the virtual reality entertainment they enjoy.

I imagine it will go something like, "This video from the now obsolete internet, presented by the immortal Laura Parker, although lacking the full virtual perspective we have grown accustomed to marks the time when the greatest artistic revolution of mankind began. Gaming was just beginning to emerge from its first dark ages. The technologically incompetent where becoming a vast minority, allowing those more qualified to analyse and promote the gaming art form to have a bigger voice. Also, corporations who had usurped the creative leadership of true artistic geniuses for years, like the Tim Schafer, and replaced them with money driven pawns who couldn't even begin to understand the creations they were giving birth to, where beginning to lose total control. The toppling of the mega game corps however is covered in many more mental projections for another time..."
