Heh, I like you.

Most people will tell you to start with the Tom Baker years. If you watch those, you'll understand the Doctor's history with the Daleks, the Master, and the Time Lords. The Tom Baker episodes lay the groundwork for the Time War that is mentioned in the reboot episodes.

If you decide to watch the older episodes, you should try to watch all the past Doctors. Even Colin Baker, though most people hate his portrayal. Doctor 6 shows you a different side of the Doctor, one which is self-centered, conceited, and cowardly. It shows you that the Doctor can be rather dark and not a nice person. People didn't like it because the performance and scripts were really over the top in highlighting these darker elements of the Doctor. The current Doctor 11, Matt Smith, has better scripts and handles the Doctor's darker side much better.

That sounds interesting. self-centered, conceited and cowardly. I've never seen a Doctor like that but it's got me interested, even though it sounds kinda stupid.

I'm not unaware of that. My wife loves the show. I simply can't stand it. Farscape makes more sense than it, and that's saying something.

Farscape is awesome and it makes perfect sense when you watch it all in order. There is never any confusion. They even go into more detail about wormholes not just 'here's a wormwhole, go through it!'. It's a must watch for all sci-fi fans. Plus it's very original, has some of the bst filler episodes I've ever seen and the humour (particularly after Season 1) is fantastic. The plot gets better every Season (the first Season is mostly taken up by character development, which is actually very important, as well as some vital episodes that don't seem like much at the time), it has the best antagonist in any series ever (Scorpius, who appears near the end of Season 1), the puppetry is amazing (they only use a few but they look very life-like) and the dedication the actors show is also amazing, like one of them taking about 4 hours to get into his costume! When it aired on TV I missed a lot because they kept messing around with the time slot, the TV Guide and ads would say its on and then it wouldn't be and vise versa. It didn't get a fair chance at all. If it did, I have no doubt it would be as well known as Star Trek, Stargate etc. But because I ended up missing a lot until I watched it all on DVD, it was confusing. But watching it all properly, it makes sense.

The majority of the work from the first two actors has been destroyed, so I would not recommend starting from the beginning. Your best bet is probably Tom Baker's tenure. He's got the most episodes, which many would argue are the most consistent in quality.

I see, thank you.

At no point. Probably the worst sci-fi show I've ever watched. Couldn't sit through the first couple of episodes when my wife forced me to watch them.

When you say 'the first couple of episodes', do you mean the 2005 reboot or the original, from the 60s? Because they're very, very different.

I've seen the first Season of the rebooted series from 2005 and loved it! But I wanted to go back and watch it from the beginning. Unfourtuantely, while it doesn't suck, it's not that good, either. But I still want to watch earlier episodes. So, can anyone tell me what might be a good place to start from, please?

lightleggy obviously asked 'what' because 'how his character is called' doesn't really make sense. 'What his character is called' would have made sense. I mean, think about it, you don't walk up to someone and ask 'how are you called?' or 'I forget that guys name, how he is called again?'. Not trying pick on you or anything but the way you said it, it sounds more like the response would be 'I call him with a whistle, by shouting, or like a dog'.

Very tacky. Not classy at all. Just lost some respect from me.

PeaceChild90

Really? After everything that South Park has done, this is when you lose respect?

Pretty much what I was thinking. Did they mention anything about Apple using child labour to make their products? The fact that the working conditions are so terrible, people have commited suicided and been poisoned? And people say Steve Jobs was a wonderful man and that he should be admired for his accomplishments... pffft, yeah, right... not when they include the killing of innocent people.

I ashamedly wasted two hours of my life on Zeitgeist. That film didn't even get half of its "facts" correct. Planning the 9/11 attack would have taken genius calibre planning and carrying out numerous impossible operations. The war on Iraq is an example of the exact opposite of genius calibre planning. This disparity escapes a lot of people. And don't get me started on all of that Illuminati tripe. It doesn't matter if the 9/11 reports have a few holes, it's still more plausible than the idea of the government... arg, I'm not even going to give it anymore thought and will settle with this: I hate conspiracy theorists.

Zeitgeist is a bad joke. It's pathetic. Run by an idiot, for idiots.

They sound really good but I've read that they have a lot of problems with security. I'm just wondering what users think of them, since sometimes the user can easily and happily avoid the problems but they just had to be poitned out by reviewers etc.

This doesn't change my mind that September 11 was an inside job but it does seem to debunk several things.
