well.. the GameSpot Editor-in-Chief is definitely one tough customer. I guess, he just refuses to go with the crowd. Remember the deal with Dirge of Cerberus? He gave one of the lowest scores again. a 6.0. Everwhere else, DoC scored 7, or above. Well, perhaps, that's what makes GS reviews unique and more anticipated than everkinetic-core

Actually that was associate editor Greg Mueller that reviewed Dirge of Cerebrus, not editor-in-chief Greg Kasavin.
And yeah, I agreed that DoC got what was coming.

I believe they oughta implement it in many ways. Your attack could be unleasehd by jabbing forward, instead of pressing a. If you wanted to use an item, you could throw it over your back (as if you were using it). If you wanted to use black magic, you could raise it over your head like a wand. Im a loser, though, so those probably suck.seankulbeth

That's what I'm afraid of... If it plays anything like the Crystal Chronicles before it, you'll be doing those actions, especially jabbing a lot. I'm pretty sure it takes a lot less effort and can be done faster if you just pressed the button. Buttons are cool.

So far the Arena monsters in FFX have been pretty long. The fact that the monsters sucked at killing you but they had a large amount of life really drew the battle out. The net result, is really boring battles.

Oh, I've had a few of those experiences. One I remember in particular was the Obel Lake mystery side quest from Final Fantasy VIII. (Those stupid mulit-coloured rocks... *grumble*)

Yeah I know, right?! They said FFXIII was like planned or was somewhat in production for the PS2 and then they switched it to the PS3. So, one would naturally think a larger percentage, say... in the the two digits range would be expected. Not to mention, Revenant Wings is said to be about half done, which I guess makes sense... They want to get the whole FFXII thing out the way first.

Chances for either games to released in 2007 is slim to none. Best bet is late 2008/early 2009.

Final Fantasy XIII definitely looks revolutionary and standard setting.

Of course, everyone saw the trailer and they were in pure awe. One look at the in-game sequences and they were like "what the heck?!". Only after extensive time, effort, and collaboration along with some hints were we only able to just assume as to how it works. Final Fantasy XIII just exhudes the feel of next-gen, it looks exactly as how one might think when thinking of next-gen. The whole futuristic Sci-fi look does nothing but to reinforce that image, and it being for the PS3 with it's brand new pricy, not-really tested technology further adds to that as well.

Oblivion is definitely the first real next-gen RPG we have and so far the only one. However, as great as the gameplay and world was, it didn't look and feel next-gen at first nor by just knowing how the game works from reads. You actually had to get a hands-on experience before you realized this game wouldn't have sufficed on any current-gen console.

White Knight Story... was impressive, albeit not as much. At TGS, I found White Knight Story or as I would prefer to call it for now Shirokishi Monogatari, more impressive than Blue Dragon and Lost Odyseey. However, it didn't "wow" me, like the way FFXIII blew me away. It was the same reaction from most others as well, the gameplay looked interesting but graphically, it looked barely a cut above current-gen. I've seen the concept art and it looks awesome, so I'm hoping that they're able to implent all those great textures by the time it's finished.

Overall, I have high hopes for Final Fantasy XIII. I'm still waiting for the holy day where a Final Fantasy title not only gets a perfect score from Gamespot but from IGN and Famitsu as well. Yes, the holy trinity, in which only two titles(Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Soul Calibur) have obtained.

[QUOTE="RaiKageRyu"]Anyone seen GameTrailer's review for Final Fantasy XII by any chance?

http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&id=1684

Just viewing the score displayed isn't enough. I absolutely implore you to watch the video review, and the comments are worth a glance over.

My friend who brought it to my attention was quite riled up, but I for some reason couldn't stop laughing. I don't know but what the guy says in the review just struck me funny.

Oh, and by the way, they scored Shadow the Hedgehog higher than this.:o:P

Noticed a lot of uproar about this in the general ff12 forums, if anyone takes these guys seriously, meaning they would rank a very poor sonic game better than final fantasy 12, something is wrong. Granted, each to his own, and they bring up some good points, but they are just a shady bunch imo.

Which is cleary why GameTrailers scores aren't included in the GameRankings Score.
