This article and the person involved is a joke. Physical mediums do NOT drag anything down. If anyting, it picks them up and carries them forward. The internet is not as great as he thinks and console and PC games may not sell as much as smartphone games and such, but that is only because people are starting to get smartphones, when in reality, they should just be used for talking. I hate how they are turning phones into system to play games on and I am only 22 years old, so it is NOT age. Physical mediums and console.PC games also bring in more profit in smaller amounts because of the prices.
@Warful @Ragnawind I already know of this, but they aren't done with them yet and they will require different lasers than standard Blu-Ray lasers, which may not be in either system for awhile.
This is the same as PS4, except 4k for games, then. 4K for games wouldn't really be viable anyway, without pathetic attempts at upscaling. For a standard game, it would take 3-4 Blu-Rays and be around 70GB+ per game that supports up to that resolution. At least Sony has decided to handle it better in only allowing it for videos, which would be much smaller. EDIT: Also they act as if you never need to shut the system off, but if it is like PS4, just "turning the system off" saves the game position for when it is "turned back on".
@Vienreich @tom2750 @green_scorpion I also own a computer and the only games I have on Steam are those that had Steam on the disc being required like Half-Life 2 I don't really like Digital downloads only, which is the main controversy, with the original X1 plans, basically, aside from the rare physical being good.
@Vienreich @tom2750 @green_scorpion used games are still very popular and you would never be able to find them for a reasonable price if not used in the future after they are no longer supported or published.
@Vienreich @green_scorpion PS4 did take risks, actually. It is drastically different than last genration, just like the XBOX. The PS4 was less controversial for the start, though.
